And recognize how this experience has contributed to your personal view of the world.

I have left. I would like to live in Rome for a while.

I own two properties overseas. Plan on spending a good chunk out of the US each year

What countries if you don't mind me asking? How do they compare the U.S.?

Only been outside the South (including TX) once
Spent entire life in MS & LA
Yet I am still dazzlingly sophisticated & urbanely cosmopolitan

I’ve never lived outside the US.
Traveled to over 30 countries

I’ve left only twice, road trip a short ways into Mexico about 30 years ago. And Ecuador in 2004 in college for a grad school program trip.
So technically I’ve left but it didn’t shape me too much.

Worked all over USA/EU/Africa/South America. Tourists areas are tourist areas no matter what country you are in. USA is the only place I’d live. It’s the perfect balance of being able to avoid crime while also being able to acquire personal space and nice things.

Mexico and Italy. They're both great. Could definitely live in Italy long term. Mexico is more fun to go for a couple weeks at a time

I've never lived anywhere but Louisiana but have seen 42 different countries on 6 continents. Have trips booked to add 2 more.
I've realized there's a lot the US gets right, but there are lots of things that other countries get right, better.
But also, humans are the same no matter where you go - they want to live, have fun, love, enjoy their families, etc, wherever you are.

The only time I left was one night in the tourist trap area on the Canada side of Niagara Falls so I didn't learn anything really.

Left own country many times. While I have a host of things I can point to as to how that’s been impactful, I think the most important is a deep understanding that we are more alike the people who live on the other side of the world than we are unlike them.

Traveled all over the world, and while we may be the wealthiest country, our priorities for work and life are backwards. Most of the world is much happier than we are with much simpler lifestyles.

Lived in the UK nearly a decade. Would go back tomorrow if I could. I appreciate the humility of living amongst history, and I’ve never been built for the golden calf of Economy and Entertainment of the modern American lifestyle.

I’ve been to 37 different countries, with the exception of Mexico, all courtesy of US Army…
