Trump needs to rescind the Patriot Act. This is how you know if he is serious.

He could, at least, mention it and push congress to not do so

You retarded about the real world or something?

Is that something a president can do or is Congress required?

Are you going to chop your sons cock off and fire bomb a Tesla dealership if it doesn't happen?

Trump can order the Executive Branch to no longer use the powers from the Patriot Act. That's a de facto repeal.

He can also simply abuse those powers and 'tap the wires' of everyone in DC, all the ex CIA directors, etc and make life so painful for them that they demand the law be repealed. I think it would be great if he targeted every member of Congress and then posted all of their communications to the internet.

A targeted reform of the law is needed. Part of the Patriot Act, iirc, is the power for Trump to tax remittances. Nothing will happen, though. Remember, Trump signed off on FISA and Mike Johnson cast the deciding vote for FISA.

There's maybe five true civil liberties types in Congress and DC.

If he makes it a priority to see Congress do that, I might believe that he is actually serious as a reformer, rather than a LARPing Populist.

I'm not holding my breath,

It amazes me how clueless people are about how our system of government works.

A typical left-of-center politician, long past his prime and (at the end) well into his "doddering" stage.

Though I'm not certain how Biden is relevant to this thread.

More whataboutism?

-OR-

He can deem that Mexican Cartels are terrorists so that any American that somehow remotely "might" be communicating with them can more easily have their rights infringed upon also.

But I know it's bad to be critical of our leaders who have capital R's behind their name. Foxnews says they're "conservatives". Because foxnews is also ran by our government.

Remember when he reauthorized all that stuff in his first term after they used it to spy on his campaign?

Apparently federal judges can issue a statement to stop the executive branch (President) from doing something, why couldnt they do it regarding the legislative branch?

I am being sarcastic but these judges overstep their authority and nobody does shite.
