Every coach since daddy Dale has made the tourny in year 3 except one

Brady- year 3 sec champ, sweet 16 team after two tough years with real actual sanctions
Johnson - won sec year 1 made tourny
Jones - made tourny in year 3
Wade- won sec in year 2 made tourny in year 2 - no tourny played in year 3 but LSU would be clearly in.
MM- last place, tied for 7th, 15th place no tourny
Dale didn’t make the tourny until year 7. I guess Scott thinks this is the 1970s and if we give MM until year 7 we can get some juice here.
Dale at least had a real excuse as the tourny wasn’t 68 teams

Well, LSU thinks we still have to follow the rules of not paying for basketball players, so it’s pretty hard for anyone to win, when dealt that hand.

Some of us can focus on multiple things at once.
Just like some coaches JJ and the listed above basketball coaches can at least win something unlike MM

It is an interesting stat, but the circumstances are night and day different imo.
The transfer portal allowing instant eligibility destroyed CMM out the gate along with the SEC being a juggernaut now. I still think he sucks, but 10 years ago he would have had more of a chance.
Trent Johnson was given the keys to a very talented team out the gate and his teams got progressively worse.
Johnny Jones was a good recruiter and struck somewhat of gold with J.Martin, J.Mickey, and T.Quarterman.

We've always been paying players. The problem is that the guys paying our basketball players today are the same ones that were paying them when Dale was coaching. The times have changed, but the money pumped into the program hasn't changed accordingly. I'm not defending MM, b/c I don't care as much about basketball. But there is absolutely truth to the fact that our NIL budget has been at the bottom of the SEC. It seems those guys and others have decided to dig deeper. Hopefully, that will change things.

Yes, yes we know that LSU basketball coach and program suck. This is old news and Will Wade is not coming back. Hopefully they fire numb nuts next year and find another coach.

His recruiting rankings have been middle of the pack at worst since he got here. Fact is he can’t coach any of the “talent” he does get here. There’s 0 reason this team should be going backwards in year 3. It’s an embarrassment.

The way this team gave up at the end of the year was Mcpathetic. Since the diabetic nil stunt we got arse blasted.
The amount of times we got blown out in the second half is probably some sort of record.

True but had there been such a field Dale still would not have made it until his 6th year....maybe.....we'd have been a bubble team.
Dale's year 3 we were 6-12 in a very weak SEC, his 4th was even worse - 5-13 and second to last in the SEC.

I’m going to need someone to explain this line of reasoning to me. The same transfer portal is available to everyone. If MM didn’t utilize it as effectively as other coaches, that is a MM problem, not a problem with the structure. (I am not defending the current rules- I think the current transfer landscape is ridiculous, but it is available for all to use, so it’s not an excuse).

It’s common knowledge that MM doesn’t have a relationship with boosters. He plays a part in the reasoning why his NIL. He also has a few guys quit the team every year. I honestly can’t think of a thing he’s good at.
