Price of 2 HVACs, installed? 2 ton and 3.5 ton split (gas). Also what brands to avoid.

They're both 15 years old. One has a broken compressor so it makes sense just to replace the unit. The other has a bad refrigerant/coolant leak and I've just filled it a few years in a row as a bandaid.
Hoping to replace both and get a discount by getting two.
What are some prices you think are fair? Also what brands are good and which ones should I avoid?
Thanks!

No, I got a guy over here for my warm weather annual tune up and he is propositioning to prison rape me.
In all honesty, I knew it would happen this year or next.

you will likely be, depending on what you buy, close to 20k to replace both units.

Can be replaced for cheaper than you think. It's the labor that's high.

That's what will get you.

Ballpark guess is you will be around $20K all in for replacement of both indoor and outdoor units.

The first company out here said no Trane or American Standard due to proprietary parts? What other brands are good?
It’s a very reputable company I’ve used for years, but it is a bigger company (Hiller).

Purchase from someone you trust and that you know will be there when you need them.
The best brand is the one that’s installed properly and exactly how the manufacturer wants it installed. All of these brands are essentially the same.

If in BR area give SEC AC and Heating a try. I used Stephen to service and eventually replace the AC at my daughters BR condo based on recommendations here. I couldn't be happier with the service and price.

I had a Rheem 4 ton installed over the summer, no complaints or issues so far, it runs more efficiently than the ~20 year old unit and my power bill went down ~$120/month so I guess that's good. Total cost for install was right about $10,500.

That old unit must have been super inefficient.
My power bill is level at about $120 a month with 4.5 total tons of cooling for my house. (I do have natural gas water heaters).

It was regularly $300-$400 in the summer months and now hovers in the $220-$260 range. I have 12' ceilings and probably could help out with a radiant barrier in the attic but haven't done so yet.

Probably about $20k installed
I’d get a Lennox system. They’re about as good as it gets in the resi world.

$22k all in with 10 year labor and parts warranty on both. This includes some ductwork, 2 new smart thermostats, etc. 24 months no interest financing and no prepayment penalty so I don't have to pay cash now (although I'll probably end it after 12)
One Ruud / one Rheem. 3 stage, good units.
My a-hole still feels torn open even though the internet says this is about market price.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned to stay away from Goodman.
There isn't really anything wrong with Goodman, but they have a somewhat bad rep because they will sell to anyone. So it is important to get someone that actually knows how to install or you may run into issues. Pretty much all of their bad reputation comes from shitty installs.
The plus is that they are cheap and the parts are cheap and available if/when something eventually breaks.
