The Last of Us has to be the most insanely over-milked IP of all time.
The amount of mileage they've managed to get out of 1 really good game is absurd.

The first season was decent outside the Brokeback mountain zombie apocalypse edition episode which I fast forwarded through the majority of it

the second game improved on the first in every way except story/pacing
the first game was great in that you could finish it in 15 hours, the second one took almost double that.
gameplay in the last of us 2 is still almost unmatched. the AI was smarter and better at using ambush tactics than anything else.
I wonder if with the outbreak of AI it will be easier for devs to implement similarly competent AI that feels more like encountering real humans
