With my youngest today trying to let him kill one. We are going to finish out the day and may come back out tomorrow if he doesn’t kill. I’ve been scouting a little in person and have a good idea otherwise because of cameras. They have been strutting for 2 weeks or more.

Saw this guy and a few hens in my backyard a couple days ago.

ETA: …and these a few hours later.

That’s awesome. Mine missed a little high. Will try to get him back out next weekend. My heart was beating harder than when I shoot my own turkeys.

Walked a few miles today in a recently burned area and didn’t see a track, much less a bird. Snow just melted today, perhaps that’s the reason. But they were back there the entire duck season.

Hunted youth both days weather was pretty abysmal.

Couple gobbles the first day nothing came of it. Watched 1 strut with about 12 hens for an hour on Sunday nothing came of it. We have a few birds based on sign I'm seeing so should all work out sooner or later.

This coming Sunday I plan to go make a round (spread milo, millet and put a camera on those places) and see what's going on. We shall see

Made it out Sunday for youth at my place in Mississippi.
Heard 4 called 1 in to about 80-90 yds, had 2 hens fly in on us and start fighting. They ended up going away from us and we could not get back on him.

Was able to watch a great show for 5 or so mins, of Strutting and Gobbling.

Lots of fun even though he did not get to pull the trigger. He has been able to kill one opening weekend of youth the last 3 years, almost made it 4.
