quote:That is actually pretty solid analysis from the LA Times.
Obama’s shocking upset over the madam-president-in-waiting (Hilary) was an inflection point for the trajectory of the Democratic Party. Voters rejected the cultural centrism that was a President Clinton-era hallmark in favor of the “hope” and “change” promised by Obama’s “coalition of the ascendant.” Initially, perhaps, that may have looked like a smart bet: Obama trounced John McCain in the 2008 presidential general election. But the one-time “coalition of the ascendant” transmogrified into an identitarian and deeply off-putting “coalition of aggrieved interests.”
quote:That is a clever turn of phrase, too. Almost as good as "woke mind virus" or "partisan brain rot."
James Carville ... has called for Democrats to distance themselves from the excesses of woke civilizational arson
quote:Common sense. Seriously, from the Times?
Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) heckled the president and was kicked out of the House chamber within the speech’s first few minutes — deservedly so.
quote:
The intraparty (Democrat) civil war is on .... Unless and until they do repudiate their cultural militance, however, Democrats will continue to flounder about in irrelevance. Perhaps they’ll need to get their clocks cleaned at the ballot box a few more times. That wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Obama really caught America at the perfect time. Although I didn't vote for Bathhouse Barry, his messaging post-win was great. People were inspired even on our side.

Drifting?!?
DRIFTING!!??!!??!!
Those lunatics aren't drifting. They are full steam ahead of the cliff of progressive wet dreams and have been for at least a decade.

I am honestly shocked by this level of self awareness from the LA Times

Yep, and everything the progressives touch…. actually regresses (turns to $hit).

TLDR: Trump broke the Democrat party

Wasn't the LAT one of the media outlets that had mass quitting because they announced they were moving to the right?
I forge all of them but I swear LAT and definitely Wapo were on the list

The Democratic party broke itself and Trump took full advantage of it with his big win in 2024.

The Democratic party broke itself

This is the truth. Their cult like obedience to the doctrines of wokeism will hopefully result in the extinction of their movement.

I just noticed that this piece was NOT written by anyone with the LA Times, but rather by Josh Hammer as a guest editorialist.
He is a longtime conservative. In law school, he was active in the Federalist Society, and he went on to work for Daily Wire and The Blaze.
Still, the LA Times DID print it, which is somewhat surprising.

You are correct
If it wasn’t for the media cheerleading for them
And the obvious voter fraud
Winning national elections would have been impossible
The MSM has lost every bit of credibility And influence
If Trump can fix voter fraud issues
The will never win again

It is a good observation but it really shouldn't leave out that this "transmogrification" was really because Obama was a complete fraud at the outset. The coalition didn't really transmogrify. It simply came out as what it was from the beginning but had to hide to get elected.

Yes, excellent and spot-on naming verbage.

“coalition of the ascendant”
Now, this term was naked and brash political crockery. Ascendant is as definitive as hope and change. Its all polish and no metal.

This way they can say it without saying it lol

Never in a million years did I think I would ever read something like this from the Los Angeles Times. They still don't get it when they present James Carville as a "voice of reason," but it's still almost shocking that they went as far as they did.
The not-so-subtle jab at Obama was right on target, too, even though Hildabeast would've been a terror in her own right.

They aren’t even close to being don3 yet either. The “old guard”, has to be shown the door. The only holders of all the power and the young insane posers all need to be evicted from the party for it to survive.
My prediction, the Democratic Party may have the same name, but if it survives at all, it will look completely different.
