Seem extra big this year? Seems like the less I see kids with pellet guns, the bigger the robins and doves on the powerlines are getting

I’m seeing more of them than usual this year and they all look healthy.

When I was a kid I had an uncle in St. Amant who would sit on his carport with a pellet gun and slaughter robins - he swore that robin breasts made the best jambalaya.

I worked with a guy from StA that said this very thing. I may have worked with your uncle.

It's only illegal if you get caught.

I haven't seen hardly any this year (South, South LA - I mean deeeep South). They are definitely good to eat (or so I've heard - or something like that depending on who's asking).

The ones around here in GA look scrawny, but we haven't had as much rain to push the worms up for the Robins to gorge on.

Same here, it’s been strange. Although, I’m gone for two weeks at a time, so I’m sure there’s been a few that have snuck through while I’m gone.

Speaking of which, we rarely see Robins in any numbers in S Central LA anymore. Guess they're kinda like ducks now and have changed their flight patters?

I young boy, who looks like me, killed a shite pile of them back in the day. Cleaned them and brought them to my (the other guy’s) grandmother. She fried them up and they were the best thing I had ever eaten. Much sweeter than dove or duck. A lot less gamey than cardinals or blue jays.

Robins showed up in big numbers this morning. Haven’t seen any before today and yard is full right now. Also in South LA.

Saw a huge one in my backyard. The squirrels, doves & cardinals all cleared out when he made his way under my bird feeders. Saw a much smaller one in my neighbor's front yard today. I'll try to whip out my phone and video the next big one I see.

My car and truck are full of robin droppings . 6 pack of beer and some pellets followed by grilling on the pit . Problem solved .
