‘Splain me ‘tinney shoes’?

This seems to be a common way for Louisianans to refer to sneakers. I realize it derives from ‘tennis shoes’ but we all know baws and baes in La don’t play much tennis. Why don’t people just say sneakers?
Nothing is more cringe than some fat plant baw saying, “You got on your tinney shoes today, baw?”
What gives, OT? ‘Splain this to BabyTac!

As opposed to your slip on orthopedic loafers, you throw on when you head to the office for a full day of projecting anger on others because you hate your life, your wife is fricking someone else, and you're too big of a pussy to do anything about it?

That’s the pronunciation of tennis in some European languages I assume it comes from that

The splaination is that you're worried about something that absolutely doesn't matter or impact anyone's life. Sometimes names/words get used for other things. Actually very often this happens. I bet you use at least one.

Louisianans to refer to sneakers
If anyone would have ever said, where'd you get those "sneakers" when I was a kid, you would have been shamed and laughed out of town. Or the shite kicked out of you.
Tinney Shoes is short for Tennis Shoes I think

I don't know, I say sneakers. But yes, most people here say "tennis shoes" or some bastardization of that.

Sort of. “Tinney shoes” is something of a designer word. Southerners have a thick accent and sometimes shorten words if they can. It’s also done sometimes to be unique and elicit a response.
Same goes with the word “video” being pronounced as “vidjo” (vid-joe), for example:
“All these damn chirren and their vidjo games…”

Looks like you already know. Now do you want a coke? A Dr Pepper, Pepsi, or Sprite?

boulevard = neutral ground
inspection sticker = brake tag
You got any other Louisiana sayings that you're perturbed by? This is a unique place. We do things different that most places.
