It's a "war" because it's elites throwing bullshite at each other and the honest citizens paying for it.

....someone please, please just do it.

It’s a ‘war’ in that it’s a battle to see who gives in first. We are so soft as Americans these days we can’t stand being America first, so we don’t want to hurt other countries feelings.

The reality is they are all pissed because they know it’s a losing battle for them and they can’t hold out long, and in order to stop them they will have to give something up.

The reality for AMERICANS is it's a losing battle for US and we can't hold out long. And now everything we buy and everything used to manufacture what we buy will now have a 25% Trump Tax slapped on it. Good job.

ETA: downvote if you're a braindead conservative who can't wait to pay for Trump Tariffs

Exports to the US is about 20% of Canada's economy and 30% of Mexico's. Exports to Canada and Mexico is about 3% of the US economy.

How do you figure it's the US that can't hold out long?

Why do you think Canadian politicians are losing their shite about Trump's tariffs?

You forgot China, the big one

The tariffs threaten to raise the prices Americans pay for a wide array of products that are imported from the three nations, which collectively shipped $1.4 trillion worth of goods to the US last year — more than 40% of the value of US imports.

I didn't bother with China because it's the same story. China depends on exporting to the US far more goods/services than the US sends their way.

Why do you assume the exporter is in the advantageous position in a trade war?

Do you think we can't find 90% of those products elsewhere?

Where will those countries find a market as lucrative as the US to replace us?

Where did you get 1.4 trillion of Chinese imports from?

Trading economics

This link says it was 462 billion or about 14%, not 40%

If you could read, that 1.4 trillion is from three countries that we're currently in a tariff pissing contest with - China, Canada and Mexico.

It's called reciprocal tariffs. Great word reciprocal, sounds nice. Reciprocal, that's a great word!

You think the Chinese and Mexicans are going to start selling their shite to Vietnam's customers (as an example)?

Yeah, you've got this figured out.

I wouldn't consider reciprocal tariffs a trade war.

A lot of the desire for tariffs here centers around cheap labor. That's seen as an "unfair" advantage, but it would not fall under a reciprocal tariff.

A lot of the reason for tariffs here is to open up markets abroad to US industries.

Because the filth screams pay your fair share until it’s time for them to do it.
