Happy Mardi Gras baws!

Have a buddy that works for Marucci who sent this to me a few days ago (yes it is legit, hence the Marucci branding and “WILLIAMS” last name on the back).

LSU was to wear these today against NDSU, but allegedly the plug was pulled at the last minute because the school’s Nike rep caught wind of the ONE TIME alternates and caused a stink… so in order to avoid any issues the admin shut it down.

What sucks is that LSU already has Marucci outfitting with helmets, bats, gloves, etc. but Nike decided to raise concern with them wearing a themed alternate on a major Louisiana holiday. Stupid. Program could have printed money by retailing these but for one corporate jackass.

They're not my favorite but I like the thought. Marucci should sell these though. I'd buy one for S&Gs

LSU is paid by Nike to wear Nike. I don't see what the problem is. This would probably be cool to wear before competition starts.

It's almost as if NIKE is a corporate entity that only cares about NIKE.

Also, F Nike.

Zero chance this is true. LSU would never try to sneak a uniform by a different brand past Nike. Your buddy lied to you.

This. And Nike could make a special uniform if we asked them.

I like them. Too bad the child-slave-shop, Nike, disapproves.

That is usually done before the season starts. While I'm sure they could, we would have to pay Nike to make that happen. I'm sure the university would rather spend money on other things. You can only imagine how much it would cost to outfit an entire team/staff for just one day. Also, pretty sure LSU's design team would rather keep it as close to the LSU brand as possible. We hardly ever do anything that that veers too far from what we see out on the field nowadays.

Yes, how terrible of them to enforce their contract*

*which assumes this story isn't bullshite. As Boosie said, LSU isn't looking to breach the contract.
