Interview was in someone's house that doesn't allow shoes. Interviewer has no shoes either. Vivek was probably wearing dress shoes without socks.

The point of not wearing outside shoes while indoors is a real thing to many folks. Wearing socks is still going without shoes while indoors.
Now, if he's at a studio, that's one thing. But if it's a home, this is a nothing burger.
