Gene Hackman, a two-time Oscar winner for “The French Connection” and “Unforgiven,” and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, were found dead Wednesday afternoon in their Santa Fe, N.M. home. The office of Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed their deaths to Variety after midnight Thursday. There is no immediate indication of foul play, per authorities, though the Sheriff’s office did not immediately provide a cause of death. Hackman was 95. Arakawa was 63.
On Wednesday, Sheriff’s deputies visited the home of Hackman and Arakawa, who married in 1991. The couple who found dead, alongside their dog, in their residence in a gated community.

Just woke up to this on my phone. Sounds like they decided to go together. What a crazy fricking week

The wife and dog dying too is sketch as hell. Either there was a gas leak or something or they decided to commit suicide together.

Sad, strange story.
Hackman could do anything. He had swagger, great comic timing, presence... the guy has to be among the last of his caliber in the movie business.

I always liked this scene in Enemy of the State

Both of them AND the dog are dead and there's no sign of foul play? Carbon monoxide poisoning is my first thought as well.

Is it possible they had been dead for several days and the dog died from starvation?
I would think at his age that he would have a home health nurse checking in on him from time to time.

That would take a long arse time. And not to be gross but eventually the dog would eat the bodies. Dying of thirst is possible I guess. Still seems super weird.
