Man this doesn’t sit well with me. This is his home lake. Random guy talks to him at launch on how he’s been catching them. Scott didn’t shut the convo down right away. He self reported anyway and bassmaster gave him a DQ. LINK

I seen this on YouTube but didn’t watch it yet.

BASS will let you cheat with FFS but can’t talk to some fella at the launch?!?!? Come on!!!

Professional bass fishing fans are sh#t outta luck

One trail is a wack format where the guys target 20 dinks a day and the other is nothing but scoping with minnows 24/7 and unnecessary drama like this.

From the sounds of it if I go yell unsolicited fishing advice to any Elite Series fisherman he's Gotta dq himself for that body of water, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

The aggravating thing is yes my 15yr old can be dq’d from a high school event sanctioned through BASS if he or his captain hear fishing chatter from anywhere within a certain amount of days called a dead period.

This is no different than a fella asking if they saw/killed anything while making a hunt. It’s common nature amongst outdoorsmen.

What’s killing “pro” bass tournaments is the FFS. No body what’s to watch a “pro” fishermen stare at a damn screen all day. We want to hear how you figured those fish were there and why you thought they’d be there.

What the hell are you suppose to talk about at the ramp ?

This is stupid, Scott said he was just talking about water clarity in a certain area and never visited the area in practice or planned to fish it.

All professional fishing is taking a hit right now, bunch of DRAMA every week.

Two weeks ago Keith Poche had a big hissy fit

They are fishing a big system, eliminating water helps tremendously.

or planned to fish it

That could have changed after he got the intel.

Ain't that the truth lol. Matt Herren was DQ'd last week at the St Johns for same thing, but was caught by polygraph vs self reporting like Martin did.

One is cheating. The other is not. I swear you people use "Cheating" simply when you don't like something. So dumb.

lol, you know it’s cheating. I have buddies that have them and say it’s cheating.

When you can see the fish, then see your bait dropping to the fish then watch the fish’s reaction to the bait, that’s cheating or as ole boy on YouTube calls it “spotlighting”

You have a strange idea of cheating. It doesn't mean what you thik it means.

They don't know what it means either.

It absolutely is not. This isn't up for debate. Cheating is "...act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage..."

You don't like it. Lots of people don't like it. It's not cheating. Getting information against an established rule is cheating

If you read between the lines, he got water clarity info from his family. Scott said he was at his shop (Roland Martin Marina) getting his boat rigged 3 weeks ago when a conversation started about water clarity. Guess who was fishing a college bass tournament on Okeechobee a few weeks ago. His daughter. I'm team Scott and he self reported but apparently we are at the point of not being able to have a conversation with a family member three weeks before a tournament. It's dumb.

Haha, you got me. It’s not cheating yet then. I have a hunch it’ll be banned from professional fishing within 5 years or sooner.

Pretty good hunch. Fans hate it. Without fans, it can't exist.

My buddy fished the elite series quite a few years ago and I ran into him right before an event on Toledo. I had been wearing them out.

I said, "Dude, I've been crushing them on..." and he shut me down right there saying, "Nope! Stop!!! Don't say it...".

I never realized how serious it was until then and this was years ago.

While I don’t support it for the lack of entertainment purposes, I don’t consider it cheating.

This is a play by play of fishing bed fish so I think that kills that argument. I also hate the floggers as they are the same thing if not easier than livescope. They are actually putting eyes on the fish eating the bait. Might as well just use a camera.

I used to watch the tournaments on tv. I turned one on last Saturday and the guy never looked up from his screen except to cast. I turned it off. Boring as shite and he didn’t say anything.

Honestly, it's been that way for northern tournaments ever since the drop shot hit the scene. You watch a guy's back the whole time with him either seeing the bottom or staring at older sonar. When I would see a smallmouth tourney was on, I'd switch to something else.

FFS is not a very sportsman like technique. Boring as hell also!
