In 2024, running backs Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions, Najee Harris of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens and Josh Jacobs of the Green Bay Packers matched a feat achieved by four players from Miami (Fla.) in the 2007 NFL season.

They do play 1 extra game now, but in today's pass happy offense schemes, to me this is more impressive than Miamis in 2007

There were 16 1000-yard rushers this year. In 2007, there were 17.

In 2024, 5 backs eclipsed 1400 yards. In 2007, 1 player did.

In 2024, 29 teams averaged 100 rushing yards or more game. In 2007, only 20 teams did.

Your theory doesn't really track

And given that running backs were considered anything but a mismatch, it was and is the year of the running back. Times seem to be changing in the NFL. These guys were all driving forces in their team's success.

Russell Wilson threw for 2400 yards. I would summit that defenses knew what was coming and Najee got his yards the hard way.

Did miami have any one-year rental transfers?

That is very impressive honestly. Bama has produced a ton of great backs over the last decade or more. This probably wont be the last season this happens either.

Do you mean as opposed to a 2-year rental? Let me think.

Invalid because Gibbs transferred in to Bammer and wasn’t developed there.

Miami still got the real record

So, you agree Jalen Hurts is an Alabama product?

I can’t help but think he’d be a MONSTER in a good offense when I watch him play.

He’s a little like Henry and needs some good initial blocking to get the play going. But with good blocking, he does some incredible stuff that would translate to huge seasons with a competent offense, imo.

They all hit the 1K yard mark before the 17th game. Jacobs, Gibbs, and especially Henry hit the 1K yard mark well before the 17th game.
