ETA: Read my follow-up posts further down for more explanation of what I mean when I comment on the effects of the DDR on the people in the East
I’ve spent a decent amount of time in Germany. I also worked for a 200 year old company whose HQ was deep in the West, but had bought a similar company in the East after the wall came down. Even 20 years later, you could still detect a very stark difference in the people.
It’s now been 35 years, but that difference seems as pronounced as ever.
It’s amazing what a totalitarian communist state does to the mind.

I'm not up on German politics, who are the players? Is blue the good guys and black the bad, or vice versa?

Looks like Eastern France and Western Poland should be the new names of that country.

Eastern Germany are essentially MAGA and where the least amount of migrants have gone to.

Time is a flat circle. Those impacted by communism want nothing to do with it. Those made wealthy by capitalism and the west want to make things communist.
It’s the tough times great good men and good times create weak men statement.

Downvotes give me the impression people think I’m saying something different than my intent.
East Germans (when I worked there) had more of a default toward just turn the crank, ie, they were not the voices at the leadership table advocating for ambitious business goals. They were not hostile to it. They just were not sure how to navigate it.
Now, though, ex Warsaw Pact countries are easily the most likely to resist big government and collective goals. They lean a lot more into voicing contempt for the whole idea of it.
They are fine with the lower trade barriers of a common market, but not a pan-European governing structure where Brussels dilettantes make decisions for countries they regard like US coastal types think of the SEC, ie, backwater rubes.

Time for former East Germany to vote for independence from from the neo nazi state.

Black is the Christian Democratic Union, or CDU. The closest analog here would probably be establishment GOP. Many there may have sympathies for some elements of MAGA/AfD, but either find the overall message distasteful, don’t want the heat, or are sucking up to “polite” society.
Blue is Alternative fur Deutschland, which is generally MGGA. The media will insist that it’s a “far-right”, borderline neo-Nazi party. When you dig for evidence in their assertions, though, it’s almost always a circle jerk of citing another media piece that made the same claim, without evidence.
BlueAnon types will have you believe yesterday was a repudiation of AfD because they didn’t win outright. They did, though, double their standing from the last election, and the two most-right parties (out of 7-8 parties that ran) got 50% of the vote.
