Educate Me OT -- Offers of Trade on Marketplace

I have received a few offers of trade on a trailer we have for sale on FB Marketplace. That many different offers have to be a scam. Just don't know how they pull it off.
What am I missing?

What type of trailer do you have?
What are the trade offers?

Just don't accept anything from anyone asking you to click links to do payment.

I'm looking to get a sauna and I have no idea which listings are bogus. Seems like a fair amount are.

Make them do a FaceTime call and show you the trade item. It may sound good in text or even look nice in a photo but I’d want to see it close up. If they won’t do FaceTime then that’s your answer if it’s a scam.
We just bought a pristine 2024 dirt bike from a guy in the Fla panhandle and made the decision to take the ride to see it after a couple of texts and a nice FaceTime session. Sewed up the details during that call.

Weirdos on there love to try and trade shite. One guy offered me a watch for a kayak I was selling. Kept telling me to was “real nice” and all I could think of was Uncle Eddie’s voice.

Please don’t talk about AntiqueTiger like that.

every flatbill frick thinks they are some hotshot salesman and are going to get a good deal by trading.
Just trade in cash. You'll get the most accurate value of any item in dollars. Trading almost guarantees someone is going to get shorted.
They might not care if they get shorted, but no question, someone will be getting shorted.

I've sold a few things and the trade offers are usually someone trying to trade me something lesser in value that I don't need. At the same time, you get random lowball offers from people just hoping to snag a deal. I posted something one time for $2k. 10 minutes after I posted it, someone offered me $1k. Why would you think someone will take half their asking price immediately after posting it?

We are selling a 16' landscape trailer. They are offering to trade a jeep wrangler. I like the idea of Face timing to get a better idea.

Did they ever make it to Japan or what ever they were saving for based off 5$

Man I've traded quite a bit on there over the years. Just depends what it is. I always meet them in person and check it out at a public place if I'm interested.
If they don't have paperwork, or have a weird story, or give methy vibes it's probably stolen and they're trying to unload it for something legit. You need to have your guard up and ready to walk if anything seems off.
But I mean- like one of my trades was- I'm selling a boat motor- because I want to pick up a 4wheeler for the kids. If somebody has a 4 wheeler and wants the motor that eliminated a step. Win win, they got a good motor, kids ride the atv all the time.

Did you "get" said trailer from the LSU campus by any chance?
