How does pulling money from defense spending in Europe help maintain US global hegemony?

America First makes sense but Europe seems to be calling for uniting in defense spending to ensure independence from the US.

Here’s the German chancellor discussing it: LINK

Don’t we want to meddle in world events, finance others’ defense spending, and be a persistent presence in global activity? Isn’t that part of us being an invincible superpower?

I guess I’m not seeing the benefit to letting Europe or China or whoever distance themselves from us with the intention of competing in military spending with us.

Unless we’re just so far ahead that they’d never catch up anyway….

Your statement is a mess. China isn't 'distancing itself from us'. Europe agreed to this stuff, and Trump is holding them to their word - to pay into their OWN self defense.

That's a great thing, as we'll still be involved, just freeing up more of OUR own money to do stuff for our own citizens.

How do you not understand ?

Did Marco Rubio not make himself clear?

The unipolar moment is over. The multiplolar world is here.

We have given up on the hegemony plan. We can’t afford it anymore. What are you trying to argue?

It doesn’t. People don’t understand the consequences of pulling out of Europe. America will never be great if we pull out of Europe or pull out of anywhere really. If it isn’t us running the world, it’s going to be the Chinese. I fail to see how that would be a good thing.

Whatever fantasy is going on in the Conservative Party right now, is no different than believing in the communist fantasy, that it would bring peace upon the world. Both are unrealistic ideas and don’t take into account how the world actually works.

Europe doesn’t resemble anything tax payers should support at this point.

They need to get their house in order absent US funding.

What the idiots of the board don't realize is that we didn't become a world super power by alienating our allies and self isolating. We did it by making friends, which is why Russia and China has struggled reaching our level.

We supply eighty percent of NATOs heavy airlift capacity, and I'm guessing an outsized portion of everything else. They (and Canada) have had the luxury of letting defense slide, because big brother takes care of things.
They made an agreement, and we'd like them to do what they promised.
In essence, we have a contract.

Remember the domino theory, espoused by the MIC, that if we didn’t stop communism anywhere, it would spread everywhere?

Well, that was bullshite.
And, it’s 2025. The old way of thinking should be forgone, and we should welcome a 21st century military thinking, where technology, not personnel, rule the day. Be more efficient, both economically and politically.

If you want to volunteer yourself, your family, and your money to maintain the status quo of the MIC and our borrowed tax dollars, go for it.

WTF you smoking?

Since the rightful fall of communism, they have not needed us to be there. eh? Who is the threat in a non-nuclear and ground war?

Russia? The same Russia you are gloating over that has failed to conquer Ukraine? Really?

They and dreaded Belarus are going to roll into Poland, Germany and eastern Europe a la USSR in WW2?

GTFO.

So by your reasoning, if we don’t pay everyone’s bills we can’t have a relationship with them? LOL, I don’t accept that logic.

bullshite, China is a demographic train wreck worse off than we are. Europe is a bunch of argumentative bitches unwilling to keep themselves from being invaded.

We have $37T in debt.

We weaponize technology and economies (tariffs) vs manpower/bases and spending our money.
