For a good enough poboy on Leidenheimer bread, The Poboy Shop in Decatur. Best spot to watch LSU and the Saints

Sorry, been here 25 yrs and haven’t found any I’d recommend. I’m in NW metro area. Hopefully your mom/dad taught you how to cook the basics.

I know absolutely nothing about north Atlanta restaurants, but I now know to not go to Two Urban Licks.

Good friend has lived in Brookhaven for 20+ years and also recommends The Poboy Shop.

This.
The Po' Boy Shop is legit. I've had several types of po' boys and the muffuletta. All were quite good -- and recommended by my boss, who grew up in New Orleans. The RB&R and bread pudding is pretty good too. They also have platters.

Haven't lived there in 15 years, but there was a Louisiana restaurant on Collier next to Fox and Hound. Guy was from Hammond and he also had a pizza place on Marietta Rd. Can't remember either restaurant's name, but I would go there for poboys a lot.

It's called Big Easy Grill, I lived about 15 minutes from there and food was really good, po boys were the real deal. There is another place in Smyrna that is bar/restaurant that had really good food and owner is a LSU guy and shows LSU football games.

I've been to the BBQ place next door a bunch, and love it, never even knew Poboy Shop was there until I just google-mapped it. This will be my next work-lunch. Thanks for the recommendation.

The upstairs restaurant seating area is pretty tiny, but there is a much larger and nicer area downstairs. You can order food down there too.

Bingo, that’s my friends restaurant.

Henry's in Acworth is really good, though Henry just retired a few months ago and I haven't had the chance to try it with the new chef in place.

That's the one I couldn't remember. I couldn't remember where it was, just that it was right across from some RR tracks. Wasn't Henry one of those guys that got drunk and rode a lawnmower home packing the daily take and some heat because of a DUI? This seems like a chef thing to do, it's happened out here too.

True story. I once went to a “Cajun” restaurant in Atlanta. I ordered the jambalaya. The jambalaya came out as chunks of meat on top of a bed of sliced carrots. When I questioned the waiter about it, he turned his nose up and said “it’s our California jambalaya”.

He sold it over a year ago to a couple with no restaurant experience. He stayed on for 12 mos to help them transition. He retired from the restaurant several months ago. The gumbo is good. Dark/smokey. We’ll see how it goes but Henry being there was what made it.
