He was the 2024 NFL fan of the year. He does some funny stuff dealing with the NFL. Someone posted about him the other day. He does a lot for charity.

Not sure what’s weirder: paying someone who won’t sleep or not sleeping until people pay you. Glad it’s going to a good cause but weird all around.

Just curious, what is so weird about it? He chose to do something unique for a good cause to raise money…people want to give for a good cause and it’s a unique way to give.

if some random dude was just asking for charity, it wouldn’t bring near as much awareness to the cause.

Sounds like a charity grift.

I’m sure some goes to charity but wonder how much?

A billionaire should step up and take care of it.

Oh wait.

It's kind of manipulative/self-aggrandizing. "I won't sleep until you meet my demands!"

Many people are either going to give because they are worried for his health/safety, or they are going to tune in and not give because they want to see how long he can go.

He pretty much is some random dude.

He's not saying, "If you all give $1M, I'll do something really difficult, cool, and impressive." He's saying, "If you all give $1M, I'll go to bed."

His “If the NFL was Scripted” show has been pretty funny this season.

That’s extremely unhealthy. You can cause permanent damage pretty easily

No. Tom started streaming at 5pm on Sunday Feb. 16 and reached $1,000,000 yesterday at 8:26am EST. Due to YouTube requiring livestreams to be restarted every 12 hours, it took 15 livestreams to cover the entire fundraiser. None of the livestreams were monitized by YouTube and no ads were run during the livestreams. In fact, Tom supplied $1,000 at each $100,000 increment for a total of 10 $1,000 donations, so there was no way he was going to make money off of this fundraiser.

Tom has been doing charity fundraisers for quite a few years now and his goal is to find relatively small charities with great ratings whom he feels could use a shot in the arm, funding-wise.
The Children of Fallen Patriots Project (CoFP) is aimed at College or Trade School-age students whom have lost a parent in the military: be it in combat, training, or even suicide. The Department of Veteran Affairs provides some assistance to the children of fallen servicemembers, but it doesn't cover 100% of post-high-school education. CoFP's goal is to pick up the tuition expenses that are not covered by Veteran Affairs.
As the charity now stands, all but 2% of the administrative costs are covered by the Charity Board's personal donations, so of the money donated by individuals, only that remaining 2% is applied to administrative expenses and 98% goes directly to student scholarships. Additionally, CoFP currently has scored a 4/4 stars for four years in a row on Charity Navigator.
Feel free to look into CoFP's finances before you make a decision, but I'm confident after doing so you won't consider CoFP a "charity grift". If you do decide to support them, you can do so at Tom's page on the Charity Website: 2025 Chaotic Good Campaign.
