Is insane. He can recruit the top 5 players in the country with that NIL money and still lose to all the teams with better coaches and similar talent.

This has nothing to do with NIL. That is the narrative given by the AD to shave $3M off the buyout and make sure Wade is no longer at McNeese and available when we are on the market.

Yep, exactly what’s going on. His ego is bigger than the program. God forbid bring back Wade and make us relevant overnight.
His show cause is up after this season, a big school will nab him up and Scott will say he wasn’t available next year when he fires McSuck.

The man before him went to a tourny every single year he was here and they had one. The program is fine when it has a good coach or a good motivator in the case of Dale Brown

Don’t get me wrong I agree and was in school at the PMAC for the Brady final 4 run. But even Will talked about how hard it is to win here.

Probably true, but I would rather keep him a couple of years, reduce his buyout to low single digit million and then fire him. Then we start fresh.

I do think there is some nuance to this situation. My personal opinion is that Scott was probably not gonna fire CMM after this year anyway, but I do think he has some personal motivation to prolong this until next year in addition.
If we think there are not folks of influence approaching Scott privately about WW then I think we are being naive....that's almost certainly happened and I would guess recently.
Now Scott absolutely does not want anything to do with this, but he also knows how insanely popular whatever meager fan base that remains is about WW. He also knows that Wade's 2-year show cause will be over after this year, and he will be a target for Power 5 schools looking for a new coach after this year.
So he floats his PR salvo to Mascona - sells buying CMM another year adequately to most it appears - and if he then has no option but to fire CMM after year 4 - WW has already been hired away and he does not have to face that awkward situation head on.

Fat Scott has for sure heard from boosters that like to win that they would pay to fire MM and get Wade.
Fat Scott doesn’t want to admit his failure and apologize to Wade and bring him back so he made the pathetic pr move last week. Lady scone was a good lackey in pushing it.
