I guess I know why, but I cannot stand the waits between seasons

Yellowjacket's, the last of us, and whatever the new game of thrones things is called that I liked 2 years ago. Just fricking put them all out at once. It's terrible.

Yep. Fallout, The Boys. Both will likely be another year at the soonest.

Not sure on the 8-10 years later thing but I prefer to start shows that have already completed and not have to wait a week for a conclusion.

Just don’t watch new shows that are still airing (except for From, watch that immediately). Pretty simple.
Wait, just so I’m clear. You want them to completely make a show, start to finish. And then release the whole thing at once?
So you wish they would’ve made 8 seasons of GoT, having no idea if people would even watch it, and then released the show in its entirety?
I mean, nobody likes long waits between seasons. But this solution is borderline retarded. OP, are you retarded?

Insane how shows in the 80s could put out like 30 episodes a season. And now we struggle to get 10 per season per 1-2 years.

They have to know it will be successful before paying to film another season. shite like the lotr movies being filmed all at once iOS a rarity. Although I think they recently did that for the 28 years later trilogy, which has me more excited to watch those

Major network shows still have tons of episodes.

Series from the ‘80s had shite production value and scripts and had defined airing seasons. The bar has been greatly elevated since those times.

S. 1 to S. 2 of Peacemaker will be three years (August 2025) but that was largely caused by Gunn. They should start a show w/ the expectation that it will generate enough buzz for a second season, and start that process of developing S. 2 while 1 is still airing. I get the feeling that execs too often want the first season to completely end before they even consider funding a second season. It would be interesting to see a chart of when shows actually get green lit as i think that is getting later and later.

The strikes certainly didn’t help the process, but it does take a while to make a high quality TV series of 8 episodes. That’s the equivalent of 4 films.
Just as an example for the White Lotus new season:
MW writes episodes start of 23’
Scouting began in summer of 23’ - Thailand is chosen over Japan
Prep began in October of 23’ - scouting, planning, building sets etc, casting
Filming starts Feb 24’
Filming ends Aug 24’ (127 day shoot with no weekend work)
Editing, coloring etc starts immediately
Lock all episodes Jan 25’
Premieres Feb 25’

I don't think people expect that.
What I do think we do have a reasonable expectation of is releasing new seasons in a timely manner. Think Slow Horses. They release on a good schedule and have kept the quality high.

Does anyone care about Stranger Things anymore? My almost 5-year old was 2 when season 4 dropped.
Don’t mistake me, I know when they finally release the next season people will go crazy about it. But a 3+ year gap between seasons is ridiculous.

It can be done, they just have to actually commit and give a shite.
Take Slow Horses:
Season 1 April 1, 2022
Season 2 December 2, 2022
Season 3 November 23, 2023
Season 4 September 4, 2024
Season 5 comes out later this year and they are already shooting season 6.

That’s a solid example of efficient production, though slow horses benefits greatly from shooting in Europe and being a contemporary set thriller …. also standing stage sets, no labor issues and from the looks of it a mostly British cast. Not to mention it has the complete backing of Apple which has a limited slate.
Seems like a more high end version of say an NCIS , which is a machine of production efficiency. Now I want to watch it

Slow horses is also only six episodes a season. I believe they also shoot two seasons at once, or did in the past.

I agree wjth you. But i asked because of how the OP phrased his thread. He seems to never want to wait between seasons and wants them to release shows completely, all at once. Which is of course ridiculous.
Posted on 2/22/25 at 5:46 pm to ugasickem
I can't watch a show now till the season is available to stream.

If that's how you interpreted my post, then you must be the retarded one. Are you retarded? It seems everyone else in the thread understood the premise of it. Kindly frick off.
