New FBI Director Kash Patel has reportedly ordered the transfer of 500 workers from Washington, D.C. to the bureau’s Huntsville facility at Redstone Arsenal. Patel’s directive also includes moving 1,000 FBI agents from D.C. headquarters out into the field, according to NBC News, which cited current and former FBI officials.

Why in the world are there enough FBI personnel in DC to be able to send 1500 of them other places?

Award winning BBQ?

I’d imagine it’s more of separating them from the corruption of DC than something they are joining in Huntsville.

Isn't there a lot of myertious immigration shot in Huntsville. Like, werent there lots of Haitians there not that long ago.

Maybe there is some sort of crime ring there. Also a space program hub, but that's another story of corruption and laundering

Huntsville is the new headquarters of Space Command (Space Force). Also Marshall Space Flight Center (NASAs largest field center), and has a huge FBI presence for forensics/cyber activity etc. Plus the following according to wiki:

U.S. Army Aviation and Missile LCMC
U.S. Army Materiel Command
Missile Defense Agency
U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command
Aviation & Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center

The reason you sleep well at night is because of the Redstone Arsenal. Im surprised you baws dont realize what has been in your backyard for decades. Who do you think built those rockets that went to the moon?

Because it’s a political enforcement unit. It was literally created for domestic political purposes.

Hmmmmm......

Dr. Wernher von Braun led a team of rocket scientists in Huntsville, Alabama from 1950 to 1970. Their work helped put the first American satellite into orbit, send the first humans to the moon, and develop the space shuttle.

Didn't Huntsville used to have a big Army chemical warfare training facility?

They’ve had MS13 neighborhoods there well over a decade now, and yes, Haitians have started showing up in several north AL towns.

The “second” headquarters of the FBI. There is talk of moving the main headquarters there.

About 1,800 FBI employees and is already considered the FBI’s “HQ2.” Sen. Tuberville, as well as Rep. Jim Jordan, has called for the entire FBI to be moved to Huntsville. This is old news for anyone paying attention, especially in Alabama.

quote:

Currently, the FBI considers Huntsville as its second headquarters or HQ2. The agency is searching for a new permanent home and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is mandating that the FBI look at Huntsville to move up to the number one spot.

The FBI already considers Huntsville its second headquarters, employing more than 1,800 with the goal to employ 4,000 in the coming years on two campuses.

Military facility that has a large number of civilian employees.

They have a good commissary. The AAFES (exchange store) there isn't anything to write home about, but it is adequate.

Not sure why all the downvotes. The literal 1st stage of the rocket was physically built there. Michoud is part of Marshall Space Flight Center.

Heck, an actual stage sat out front for decades until the Infinity Center in MS stole several years ago (Lower-right corner of photo).
