I just don’t understand how they can’t make the Post Office profitable. You know how much you mail each year and you know your operating costs. Just raise the postage to cover or lower your operating costs to meet revenue. This is basic.

We have enough private and mature logistics companies that the USPS can be sold off.

We get mail 7 days a week. Not sure when that started but it’s been awhile. If USPS is a sacred cow of some sort that can’t be eliminated, fine. Cripple it. Only deliver M/W/F in populated areas, T/T in rural. All routes run by contractors not full time govt employees. Consolidate post offices, shut maybe 1/3 of them down. Etc. Put a business person in there and postal service would be break even or profitable in 2 quarters

Another agency that just soaks up our tax money...Great retirement for those in it at the expense of every tax paying American. There's got to be a better way for less costs.

That guy is an idiot, and, he compounds it by taking offense at Paul's questioning. There's a million just like him the government workforce. Needs to be gutted.

My guess is the volume is decreasing but the number of routes, homes and businesses getting a delivery continues to increase which gives the paradox. Despite that, most all new neighborhoods require a centralized mail box. All the new ones here in my town require this.

I do like the idea of changing days mail runs. We don’t check our mail but 1 or 2 times a week anyway and it’s still just junk mail.

I work in an office building and the mail guy, if he even comes, comes at 6pm. That means that if we don't want any outgoing mail stolen, we have to manually drop it off

Get rid of the postal service and while we are at it, spin off the VA too.

Of the 20% work they still do, half the time I still don't get my mail. Pathetic.

I thought it was protected and a required service to be provided by the Feb Govt.

Of course, I could also be very wrong.

They are bloated I’m sure but I assume usps delivers more packages than ever now, since people are doing more shopping online. That may require more folks, right?
