Just started diving in to Sleep Token over the last few weeks, particularly the newer album, Take Me Back to Eden.

There are 3 songs on there that hit some incredible riffs and vocal breakdowns -
The Summoning
Take Me Back to Eden
Vore

Anyone else listen to them and your thoughts? It's kind of a slow burn on some of the other tracks but the vocal talent and musicianship is awesome. What are some of their other songs that are on the heavier end?

Tried it. Found I'm too old for it. My grown son loves them.

Gods

Similar to Vore but off an earlier album.

Not my favorite heavy band right now, but I can f$&k with ‘em. I think their production is way too clean and shoegazey, which makes them sound less heavy than they really are. Vocalist has an incredible voice. Very solid band.

I agree with you... The talent is undeniable. the singer has amazing range, the guitar sound is so clean for such a low tuning and 8-string guitar, and the drummer is insane.

My issue is that the good songs are ridiculously good, but everything else is fodder to me. I could listen to "The Summoning" on repeat all day. Take Me Back to Eden has one of the best buildups to a crushing breakdown I think I've ever heard.

But 80% of their catalog is just... meh.

Wish they would lean more into heavy/djent riffs with that dude's voice and mix in clean sections, rather than have entire songs of just waiting for something hard to hit but it never does.

This was a good suggestion. Thanks

They are one of my main listens at the moment. I've loved most of what they've done and love the variety their songs have. They really hit a lot of different genres, even within the same song, and do those pieces very well.

I don't really consider them a pure metal band, but they have some great heavy moments in a lot of their stuff. Have some really good trance/electornic aspects as well as some great more classic hip hop drum aspects. Their drummer is one of my favorites out there right now.

The Offering (Sundowning Album) is one I really like as well that is on their heavier side, at least for instrumentals. Kind of similar to take me back to eden where it is kind of very melodic and then some good drops (in a different way though). Not quite as heavy as Vore or Gods vocally, but has some good riffs in there.

They are supposed to have a new album coming out this year, I believe.

They’re pretty much modern day Evanescence with silly masks. I love them, but once my wife pointed it out it became as hard to unhear as realizing Tobias Forge from Ghost sings like Weird Al.

Interesting. Not seen that comparison really before for them, i've seen plenty of others. Quick Cliffs of the high notes of the argument?

Over dramatic vocals. Sneaky Christian lyrics. Industrial chug chug music.

I am a huge metal fan. I saw them live for free about year ago when a friend said he had an extra box ticket & I had never been in a box at the Bomb Factory so I went. They are just not for me. I don't get it. But you cannot deny that their fan base absolutely worships them.

Not sure i'd call it all that sneaky when they have a song called Take Me Back to Eden

Though, in reality, theirs is much more about just general deity worship than anything else, not really specific to any one religion. That's the whole "schtick" if you will. They aren’t trying to hide that.

I'm not sure I know what this means

eta: the closest comparison i've usually made is like if Deftones were insprired more by hip hop than they were grunge. Both use a lot of mixes between clean and harsher vocals, synths, etc. Gods and Goon Squad are very similar songs.

That being said, I can definitely see some Evanescence comparisons with the clean vocals and orchestral aspects, the more i think through their catalog.

In their usual dramatic fashion, they released a cryptic new site yesterday. Probably safe to bet it is tied to a new album or at least a new single, especially with their upcoming schedule for the year.

Show Me How to Dance Forever

If you put the letters in the order: DOUOSVAVVM - you'll be able to sign up for updates and maybe early access, nobody is sure. Just an fyi for anyone interested, or just wait until an actual announcement/drop happens

I listened to one of their songs. At first I thought they were ok, nothing special but not bad. Then the rap section kicked in and I noped right the frick out. Not for me.

Really liking the new single. Can't wait for the album.

Tour should be sweet. Looks like Duluth is going to be the only reasonable one to try and get to.

Didn't like it at all. I like some of their songs, but I guess I just "don't get it".
