During the unfunny SNL skit for Black Jeopardy Keenan referenced how you had to be black to know the message that the Super Bowl halftime show was sending. I sure did not grasp a salient theme, what was it?

The message is, if the TV tells them to, black people will pretend there is a deeper meaning to something that only they can understand.

I don’t think it really matters.
If it’s not for you, then it’s not for you.

How diverse, equitable and inclusive.

Spoiler alert - that only goes one way. The people that will call you names for not supporting DEI will actively and enthusiastically discriminate against you.

I didn't watch it, but based on your description, and the fact that it was a comedy program, it sounds like he was just fricking with you.

There’s all sorts of “deeper meanings” being floated around by black folks. Then I saw some behind the scenes thing with the show’s producer and she said the set was modeled after a PlayStation controller and each song was a level in Kendrick Lamar’s life. It was that simple.

Majority hated it, so a few Black celebrities said you don't get it on social media.

Regular Black people to Black people.... Get what?

The message was to hate America and to be proud of it

Thee was no message.

It’s just more “baffle em it with BS” because they have zero talent. James Brown didn’t need secret messages, he simply said it out loud. I’m black and I’m proud.

It was basically just to disparage white people, I don't think there was much more to it than that

Rap seems to be just HIgh School bravado shite that never stops. Half time show sounded like a mad poetry reading in some New York city fru fru club, I couldn't really even hear the words to figure out what he was saying. I just had heard he won all the awards at Grammys or something, so did a quick study on youtube and its just high school trash talking and from what I learned seems most of what rap has been for awhile, They seem to say his trash talking is really good compared to others.

Agree, get what? I watched about 10 seconds and the only thing I "got" was this dumb arse is standing on the hood of a GNX. I could not watch something so stupid.

It was just ghetto bullshite and pathetic. Black people are probably the easiest people in the entire world to manipulate!

Sad!

Funny because the white 20s people I work with got it right away. If you listen to drake and Lamar, you’d know the shots taken at drake. Lamar raps about black issues prison pop, poverty, challenges facing poop inner city blacks. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if you listen to his music.

I'm so glad I don't listen to him.

Seems to work well for white liberals too.

And when FoxNews does it, white boomers get in lock-step.

This superbowl halftime show has overshadowed ever other aspect of the game.

It was decent, and elevated the current R&B/rap genre.

The rest is just clout chasing.
