I only caught the last 10 minutes or so. I know chest was out. But I noticed sears wasn’t playing, I didn’t even see fountain on the bench, you would think with miller, collins fouled out and chest hurt that we would see one of them.

Edit: I saw a report said he was out due to illness.

What about Noah? Is he redshirting? Do redshirts usually dress out? He was dressed in the bench.

Fountain has had abdominal issues several years in a row now. Need to get him checked out by specialists.

It was probably for the best that they didn’t. The lineup and rotations today were the best I’ve seen from McMahon since he’s been here.

Even benching Sears was a good move. Props

I asked the same question earlier. I hope some of the guys are not giving up!

They need to keep Trey’Dez far away from this shitshow. His future is on the field not the court

I found that interesting as well.....and yes Sears barely played.

I will say he had to try some different things, because what we were trying was not working. He went with small lineup to maybe try and get some mismatches in our half court offense and I do think it worked to some extent, with an assist to OU who was really bad on defense.

But yeah, even when Collins and Robert Miller fouled out he did not put either Green or Fountain out there which again....was interesting.

Foul trouble kept Sears out in the first half. I think in the second half it was just a case of MM feeling the lineup with Givens was working.

I also think Givens playing at lot (and V Miller’s start) is MM trying to build an argument to save his job. The argument being his freshman are getting more experience and he needs to stick around to continue the “build”.

Yeah, I knew about the first half, I probably would have still put him back in even with 2 fouls after Givens missed the 2 straight free throws....but that's me.

He has absolutely given Givens more PT than he's deserved and I've heard some speculate that Ward's departure was mainly due to the desire to give Givens and V.Miller a good bit of his playing time.

As you know I think Scott and LSU are bringing CMM back next year. So we'll see if the PT for them pays off, if they return and this day and age the IF is always a thing.

I heard that they didn’t make the trip. I heard something about one or both were sick and Fountain may have had an injury.

The thing I noticed without Sears is that the ball was moving. Sears tends to dribble too much and commits too many turnovers, but we need his shooting. Givens played pretty well yesterday. If Givens can continue to limit turnovers, I would rather Givens and Williams running the point, with Sears playing shooting guard.

I think guys just don’t play when they don’t feel like it. There’s been too many mystery injuries that aren’t real injuries over the course of 3 seasons. You also have MMs weird obsession with only playing a short bench so he doesn’t mind if 2-3 of his 11 rotational guys sit out. Makes it easier to implement his idiocy.

I'll put it this way....Givens has been given more then enough runway this year and IMHO and in those opportunities I did not notice either better ball movement or an appreciable difference in turnovers with the caveat that Givens is s freshman and Sears a fifth year senior - albeit who competed at a lower level.

I'm not sure how much of that was an epiphany of improvement by Givens and the execution of the offense or OU's not being very good on defense or a combination of the two, but I honestly didn't see a whole lot different from Givens than I've seen most of the season other than he's marginally a better defender than Sears.

will wade said he preferred to only play 8 or fewer. a short bench is not weird.

also there is no evidence to support your theory of players not feeling like playing. players love playing.

Wade was never 2-10 or 2-16. The only season he used fewer than 9 guys was the Covid year and his teams and players had an identity and roles. McMahon has consistently sat guys who could help us win games and doesn’t understand what his teams are. I didn’t say playing 8 was weird, I said his obsession with playing 8 while it’s not working and there are other options is.
