Various names that the Gulf was referred to over the years by the European Colonizers from Spain.

Sea of the North
Gulf of Florida
Gulf of Cortes
Gulf of St. Michael
Gulf of Yucatan
Yucatan Sea
Great Antillian Gulf
Cathayan Sea
Gulf of New Spain
Mexican Cove
Mexican Sound
Gulf of Mexico

And now we have officially renamed it the Gulf of America, which I believe best reflect the Continents of both North America and South America for which it joins.

If it makes any of you leftists feel any better about saying it, think of it this way. Spain was a major European colonizer and a huge participator in the African Slave trade to the new world. By renaming it the Gulf of America, we are in essence simply renaming something that was coined by people who have enormous ties to slavery and European colonizing attached to it by those evil white Europeans.

I personally don’t really care, and think you deserve every bit of it, but remember, you started this garbage. This was your doing really.

I dislike name changes purely because I don't want to have to learn new names for things.

It should definitely have been named "Gulf of the Americas".

It's really no big deal. Territories change names all the time, whether by conquest or by decree.

For example: Italy has only been officially known as "Italy" since 1861. For thousands of years, it has switched back & forth between Quitala, Gitalas, Kitala, Hitala, Itala, Italia, Gaul, Roma, Rome, etc. yet I'm sure there'd be some bitching by someone as "unconscionable" if the name ever changed again.

Again, it was renamed to counter the destruction of pride in the USA that has been one of the bullet points of the communist that know they can't do it by military might.

Kids taught to hate the USA in school.
Statues of our history torn down.
Denali renamed instead of McKinley.
Even the art in front of building representing nothing. abstract art.

Trump even signed an EO to stop with the stupid abstract art and to us the proper architecture.

Good point. The Gulf of Mexico was coined by white racist colonizers. According to liberals, anything created by white racist colonizers is illegitimate. Trump simply corrected the injustice by adopting a name that reflects the dignity of all inhabitants of North and South America. After all, it’s not like he named it the Gulf of the United States. Anyone who continues to use the dead name “Gulf of Mexico” is committing violence against all non-Mexican people of the Americas, especially the BIPOC community, who are most vulnerable to micro-aggressions.

I thought the name only applied from the tip of FL to the tip if TX anyway.

I called him 'Family Doctor' for 10 years after he became a 'General Practitioner." I still call him that even though he's a 'Primary Care Physician.'
