most LSU alumni/fans actually dont care. I know there is a hardcore group interested in basketball but overall... not really. LSU sports is 95% football.

Basketball since the 90s has been a bridge between football and baseball. No one actually thought basketball would win a championship. Make the tourney and hope for a deep run was about the best that could be hoped for. The surprise run to the final 4 in 06 was nice but overall basketball does not have a huge following. Might even be the 5th sport behind football, baseball, gymnastics, women basketball.

Is this team worse than that last Johnny Jones team that lost nearly every conference game it played in with Antonio Blakeny?

False. How many dumbasses are going to say this same stupid shite on a basketball thread? Fan support has diminished because the program has been dog shite for nearly 15 years before Wade and now 3 years post Wade. With a good program the fan support will return. You don't speak for the rest of the fanbase when you say stupid shite like that.

Those games were some of the most fun I’ve had at LSU events. Unfortunately so many fans today have no idea how much fun basketball could be.

Nope. It used to be amazing. Now apathy has set in. Auburn and Arizona with Swift and Smith are some of my best memories.

They really don’t. I grew up in the days of Chris Jackson and Shaq. Remember playing basketball in my driveway every day even in the morning as I waited for the school bus. Pretending I was CJ shooting 3’s.

Special memories of LSU basketball being a lot of fun even if they fell short of championships, they were relevant and the pmac was alive.

LSU can absolutely be a school where the fans care about basketball. Sadly, it’s been so long minus the Wade era since we had anything to celebrate there that most are now just apathetic and have resigned to it being suckage.

That was a special time. I remember being totally confused as to why Feinswag was mad at us chanting gay slurs at Laettner.

Well we didn't beat Duke and Laettner and we didn't camp out for Auburn and Barkley, they weren't really that big a draw in the moment, but I get your point. This is hard to stomach, for those of us who really care....which are fewer and fewer these days.

I can tell you most of the friends and folks I used to go to games with back in those days you speak of couldn't name a player on the team right now and have not been to a game in years.

I think this team is better overall talent-wise but the conference is much better this year than that year.

I think Dale's last team was probably worse than either and Trent's second year was arguably worse as well I thought. As far as pure talent Brady's first year may have been the worst once he kicked Dejuan Collins off the team, but he managed to keep them surprisingly competitive despite the dismal record.

there were definitely championship runs...there was the belief among the fanbase that we could win it all, multiple times...even up until Brady. Since then, there hasn't been a single season where LSU could win it all. That goes with WW, and MM. Each having been on the bench for 2 NCAA Trny wins.

Just because you weren't there to witness it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Making a final 4 is pretty elite. LSU did it multiple times back in the day, as well as a few other times where they came up just short of the final 4. If you use winning a championship as the only measure of success, then what do we have in the SEC....Kentucky has won what, 1 in the last 20 years? Fl won a couple back in the day, and Arky won a couple before they were SEC. So by your logic, Auburn, Alabama, Tenn, etc., are just run of the mill programs right now, simply because they haven't cut down the final net.

No, they weren’t. We didnt win a championship. Do you also consider 2006 to be a championship run that was omitted from your post even though it ended in the Final 4?
