They just keep embarrassing themselves year after year. Complete elitist idiocracy. I like most of these bands or singers by the way. The fact that Iron Maiden & Motörhead were not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 20 years ago & still are not is down right criminal.

A couple of these are deserving and overdue. Others are fricking ridiculous. And why the frick is smashing pumpkins still not getting consideration? They were far , far more influential and acclaimed than soundgardn, to say nothing of garbage like Sheryl Crow.

I sure hope Paul Rodgers gets inducted.
To think that Dolly in in the RRHOF and not Rodgers is insane.

It’s half dei hires and half bands you stop liking once you hit puberty

Bad Company - at least Paul Rodgers will finally be inducted
Obviously Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker have strong arguments.
Soundgarden and Oasis are solid. Billy Idol - probably enough there.
I know Phish has a solid fanbase and that probably helps.
The Black Crowes? Okay.
Joy Division, Outkast and The White Stripes are all "meh".
I have no fricking idea about Mana, but I suppose their international credentials are swaying the voters here.
Obviously, Mariah Carey and Cyndi Lauper aren't strictly speaking rock acts. At least Mariah Carey doesn't regard rap any more highly than most of us in this thread.

(ETA: Frankly, this is about as good a class one can expect these days from the RHOF)

Little Feat not being in the HOF is a travesty.

Joy division is one of the most influential acts of the last 40 years but yea ok, they’re no billy idol I guess.

The White Stripes??
Nearly as laughable as Mariah Carey.

The White Stripes?
I like them, a lot, but they are nowhere near worthy of the HOF

Fame has to count for something. I could poll 100 random younger boomers and Gen X folks and 80 of them won't be able to name a single Joy Division song or album.
#Facts
Now, I get it - if Ian Curtis hadn't died? Maybe they would have broken through to some mainstream success. See Andrew Wood.
On the other hand, some cats die young and are off-the-charts famous (Buddy Holly, Hendrix, Duane Allman, Joplin, Morrison, even Amy Winehouse for a non-rock example.)

Well it’s joy division AND new order and the latter had a ton of longevity and hits.

Why TF is Jethro Tull still not a nominee? Fck the HOF.

The Rock and Roll hall of fame has got to be the dumbest hall of fame out there

This. Although Joy Division was the precursor, New Order carries the most of their combined weight.
