Player option on final year if he declines it will make it more like a 2 year 77 million, not much more than the 35 per Griff offered him.
I think he was just ready to move on based on this and what Trey and Zion said about him.

Once he turned down the extension two years ago, Griff shoujd gave moved him. Woukd have got way more than the shite return we got. He didn’t want be here after seeing him sign that.
Another Griff frick up.

What did Trey and Zion say about him? I’ve been out of the loop for a few days stuck in Disney.

This extension was exactly what I expected. Really going to be a 2 year deal that'll allow him to rebuild his value as the defacto first option on a more complimentary roster.

I think BI should be happy with this deal. Toronto is obviously...content...and I think moving BI was the best thing for the Pels...given the current "situation"...they found themselves in...regarding BI.
So...sounds like it might be best...for all concerned.

Except he was the centerpiece of the AD trade and we will have gotten less back than what we paid the Hornets to get Davonte Graham. Rejoice….

Not sure how Raptors are a complimentary roster to BI. They are a worse three point shooting team than us. Scottie and RJ operates where BI usually operates. Their record speaks for themselves lol. Wish we had their pick next year instead of Pacers.

It's insulting when the team you've been on for years "lowballs" you. When you're on the trade market for months, there's tepid interest, and the new team offers you similar money it sounds a lot better.

So he basically wanted a fresh start.

My bad I see it now spoke to fast

There is no way that Toronto made this trade without knowing that BI would sign an extension. This deal was done before the deal.
The Raptors are now locked into a really weird roster that is not going anywhere.
Next year:
Ingram - $40 million
Barnes - $38 million
Quickley - $32 million
Barrett - $27 million
Woof.

He was only lowballed in his own mind. Or maybe it’s just the anti small market “I’ll play for a big market team for less, but for you, you have to pay more” bullshite.

Getting a top 4 protected Raptors pick instead of a Pacers pick may have been preferable.

2 years at $78M is a lot more than 2 years at $66M, which is likely what that 4/$140 looked like in the first 2 years. They weren't paying him $35M/yr for all 4 years. It was a pay cut, and that's why he rightlfully laughed at the offer and told them to trade him.
He's making $36M this year. a simple raise to $38M in year 1 (24% of the cap) would have made sense and that's what he just signed.
4/$165 would have been that.
I think it's just clearer now that he didnt want to be here anymore, and they didn't want him.

We have no idea how it was structured. Could very well have been structured as a declining contract with the idea in mind to eat a tax bill for a year or two and be able to duck below it easier as his contract declines.
Also once you take into account taxes are higher in Canada than here, Ingram is probably gonna be making less than the 35 per we offered

Yeah, I don't think the Pacers are going away.
Though Myles Turner is an interesting free agent.
