On Friday night Oklahoma comes calling, the premier gymnastics program of the last decade. However, there is a new Queen of the mountain and she is dressed in purple and gold, no longer the hunter , now the hunted. The last time the Sooner girls visited was the beginning of the climb. This was an afternoon meet on MLK day three days after superstar Kiya Johnson sustained a torn achilles tendon. Something happened within that program over the weekend and a demoralized team found something within itself to commit to becoming champions. They lost a close meet to Oklahoma then, but began to grow individually and as a team. They reached the Final Four and one year later they took home the biggest stick crown of all, NCAA champions. Now Friday night its time to send a message.

Considering the way those front row lunatics at Alabama were acting Friday night anything goes now. Jay Clark and Courtney Griffeth chewed their asses good. They even had to call security over to get them in line.

Although OU's team is extremely talented, their "safe", low risk routines are always overscored due to the "OU Factor". Unless OU has a few falls, like they did at nationals, they will win the meet regardless of how well LSU performs. BUT who knows, maybe they will choke again like they did at nationals. No matter what, we will still face OU at least two more times (SEC and Natty)

Not sure this meet really matters, OU will be ranked #1 coming out of it no matter what based on some crazy criteria. NCAA Championships is where it will get fun

The SEC regular season championship matters. Dee Dee fought hard to finally get this in place as it used to be only the SEC meet that counted. The two teams are close within the criteria for national ranking. These are the the top 2 teams in the country and it will be a spectacular showcase for the program. There will be a sellout crowd ( maybe more but don't tell the fire marshal) and the atmosphere will be electric.

Perfect? Nope.

They just need to stay focused on the five minutes in front of their faces, do their gymnastics to help their team and and know their team always has their back. Learn the mantra.

LSU has scored a 198. OU hasn't yet.

Just saying.

OU scored a high of 197.95. Is 0.05 points a big differential in gymnastics?

In terms of the rankings, it may not make a difference, but I think it would be huge for the the Tigers just to know in their heads, "We can beat that team!" The Sooners live in every opponent's head until somebody proves they can beat them, so while I agree with your statement from a rankings perspective, you gotta knock off the best in a head to head match up at some point, and in your own gym with the crowd rockin' seems like a pretty good time to do it.
Sooners might want revenge and take it out on us in the SEC championships, and then we come back and get them at nationals.
Long story short? Just win, baby!!!

It could be the difference between a win and a loss. It wouldn't matter this weekend much, but in two months, it would make all if the difference.
