Why is Marvel (and Disney) like this? Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld snubbed at premier.

Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Will No Longer Work With Marvel After ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Premiere Indignities
The writer-artist describes several perceived slights, such as being denied access to the afterparty, and makes a head-turning claim: "Kevin Feige does not treat comic book creators well."

"...Liefeld laid out his decision in a 90-minute episode of his Robservations podcast as well as in a follow-up interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he detailed a series of perceived slights at July’s New York premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine.
At the premiere, Liefeld learned he and his family were not invited to the afterparty, something he was accustomed to attending. He also felt snubbed by Disney brass, including Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, whom he says was near him on the red carpet but did not acknowledge him."

*Rob Liefeld does get a cut of everything Deadpool related, through a prior licensing agreement, so my guess is that the Suits aren't thrilled.

He should be shunned for what he did to Captain America

Are we taking Liefeld’s side on this?
Knowing only what you posted, and nothing more about the situation, it sounds like he’s mad that he didn’t get invited to a party? And that someone didn’t acknowledge him in public? Is that the full extent of the “drama”? Cause damn, that’s pretty low level beef to pull out of a mega franchise over. Sounds pretty fragile to me.
I don’t know, I guess this just sounds more like the type of drama I’d expect from grade school girls than from working professionals

Yeah, I'm as anti-Marvel and Disney as anyone and this looks like a middle school girl got her feelings hurt.

You'll get no argument from me on that. Strange indeed. But that's not this issue.

Got invited to a premier, then told he wasn't allowed to attend the after party.
Was snubbed by Feige.
Had photos deleted after having been taken by Marvel..
The linked article goes into more detail. It's an ongoing thing, more with Marvel than DC, but comic book folk in general tend to feel snubbed for their creations. At the very least, they'd appreciate the public acknowledgements, which the big corporations seem allergic to, least there be further litigation over rights and such.
My GUESS is that he's not the only one, but because of the deal he has with royalties, is in a position to speak out where otherwise an artist or writer would be hesitant, least they be 'cancelled' or black balled.

I imagine all of those guys that created Image with him are snickering behind his back. He was and has always been a giant POS.

For or against him personally or professionally, again, not picking sides.
Just asking why Disney Marvel is acting like this.
What's their beef? They didn't treat him like this before, so what's changed?

That guy is actually crazy. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was more to the story.

More so than most other comic book artists? I don't know. I don't follow their drama or careers.
Curious follow up nugget, it was Liedel who used Blake Lively as inspiration for the character of Ladypool. And that's who played Ladypool in Deadpool x Wolverine.

He sounds like a drama queen and needs to grow up. I had brass not acknowldge me when they were near me and it didn't bother me. Maybe they don't know him or didn't see him.

he still never learned how to draw feet.

They acknowledged him before, why not now?

WTH do I even care about Liefeld?
I was asking what the change was in how he was treated before and what took place at the DxW premier.

The answer is to go out on their own to produce their comics, but we all know how that goes.
They either do the work for pay model under the big companies, and don't own their work, or they work for themselves and hope to become the next Spawn, Walking Dead/Invincible, The Boys, etc.
The best bet is to make a name for yourself and then go off on your own but these guys who want to work for a big company and then complain they don't own their stuff that the big company promoted and turned into a huge success are just losers imo. They pretend the only reason their work is famous is because they worked on it.
I'm certainly not a big fan of comic book companies and how they do things, but no one goes into this business confused about what the bargain is. I feel the same way about the chick who complained about wages at the Grammys.

Not in the business, so I can only speak from the sidelines, but comics being turned into movies , very successful ones at that, is a tricky process. Iron Man was probably no bigger deal than say *Green Lantern, but with the right writing, actor and CG , the studios can turn a B list comic hero character into a global sensation. And then to turn a hit movie into a full blown industry itself, like the MCU, it's no small task. Credit goes to the inventor of the character, sure, but to then carry it further to a multi-billion dollar series of movies, where is the line drawn for each to get their fair share?
* See Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool vs Green Lantern. Same actor, but set in a different universe of writers and CG... one works far better than the other.
