She reads some of them.

I've read some of them too based on her recommendation. I find that the smut takes away from the rest of the narrative.

Take the empyrean series for example (fourth wing, iron flame, onyx storm), the smut portion is so out of character for the main characters. It totally detracts from the fantasy of the rest of the story. It hurts the character development rather than being additive to the story.

And extremely repetitive. It's like reading the same chapter every 100 or so pages.
