It’s crazy how Griff just gives away firsts like candy but had to pull teeth to get just

One.

Gave away a first for
Steven Adams
Devontae Graham
CJ
Two for Murray including a former high lotto pick
And one for JV that for his dumb luck didn’t convey

But it took a miracle to get a middling one for what was viewed as our best or 2nd best player right before time ran out…

Has anyone ever got their chocolate starfish worm out as bad as Griff in trades?

The new CBA changed the landscape on what firsts were worth and the penalties for overspending.

Hard to compare apples and oranges with regards to transactions before and after the change in CBAs.

The problem isn't the changing landscape, the problem is Griff's failure to see the changes until it's too late. I don't think they are going to get rid of him, but they absolutely should. Even if they just hire another POBO and keep most of the staff in place.

Sounds he he vastly overpaid for Murray then just a few short months ago.

Told yall it was a bad trade at the time. Looks worse by the day now…

Not going to argue that one.

Just pointing out that judging a deal by firsts involved isn’t what it used to be.

People can't wrap their head around this. I'm not saying those were good moves by Griffin but they can't really be compared to current trades pick for pick value.

Furthermore people saying "Luka was traded for 1 1st and ruined the trade market"... AD is worth 3-4 1st by himself. The trade was essentially (4) 1st for (5) 1st.... Its not often you have a trade for 2 top 20 players. Could Mavs have gotten more or better assets? Yeah. Are y'all ridiculously undervaluing AD's trade value? 100%

Less picks were included because another top 20 player was involved. Its not like they dumped Luka for an expiring and (1) 1st.

After seeing the effects by CBA on trade markets, the Murray trade was asinine for what we gave up.

He fumbled the bag big time between, that’s not even taking into account his horrific coaching hires that didn’t even give his bad personnel decisions a fighting chance, not sure there’s a team in the league that would have given him this much rope

As pointed out, the “war chest” was mostly used to bail himself out of shitty decisions and not improve the team significantly

BI he thought he was right about when it was clear to most this isn’t a great fit and we held on for too long until being forced to eat the least shitty of the shite sandwiches.

I’d say we’re “rebuilding” yet again but that would imply something was built in the first place.

Yep, that’s the biggest issue for me. Everything Griff does is reactive and never proactive. People saw this Ingram situation coming down the pipeline years ago, and instead of being proactive and getting out in front of it he held Ingram until he was pretty much worthless.

People knew we needed a long term center for years. He held JV until he expired and by straight up luck had a center fall to him in the draft. I genuinely want to know what Griff’s plan was at center if Missi got picked before us.
