So Griffin trades our opening day center..says well figure it out

His moves are more comical by the day…first doesn’t ships out Jonas then doesn’t sign an NBA center but one from oversees. He decides to draft a center who has promise but not ready for the minutes he is playing as it seems he has hit the “rookie wall”.
He then proceeds to bring Karlo on the team shipping him back and forth on the G league and has Willie play him out of necessity or just whatever reason he feels like it on the game.
He definitely is figuring it out alright so now we have Missi who is struggling especially against bigger players and Karlo who is unproven.
This is all on him not injuries or coaching. This is Griffin banking on himself with his comments and putting the team in this position to start the year.

The center position doesn't fit well next to Zion.

Lakers also have Jaxson Hayes looking competent. Just saying.

I just want one beat reporter to ask Griff what the frick his plan is. Like really grill that motherfricker, bring up all the assets he’s wasted, the lies he’s told.

This is a common problem with guys who play the 4 because they bitch about having to play center.
Like douche-flavored Ruffles does.

With this being a lost season, wouldn't you prefer our younger players getting minutes over a vet who won't be here longterm?

Let's slow down. He's averaging 5 pts/4 rebounds in 17 minutes a game.

Yeah Hayes has been awful

I agree with you about the younger players getting more minutes and playing time. It just seems that Missi is starting to struggle with the minutes wearing on him and I’m afraid he could get hurt with trying to get accustomed to the rigors of the nba. He wasn’t supposed to be playing this many minutes when drafted. You can tell he is getting fatigued quicker. He didn’t play this much even when at Baylor as he was a rotational player at times.

Looked pretty good yesterday in the PNR with AR and LeBron. He’s a good passer. I still believe in him.

The young guys should starting playing regardless. But the issue is the assets being burned year after year.
Signing Theis cost us a 2nd round pick. That's not okay.

What? No they don't
i was captain of the Jaxson Hayes fan club while he was here. I think there were 3 of us. So I was deep down kind of rooting for him to be a decent player, but he has not looked good and not even as good as his 2nd and 3rd year in the league than he is right now. Which is pretty telling in regards to how not competent he is.

He hasn't even averaged 1 assist or better in any NBA season, but sure.
ETA: I also pretty much lost whatever respect I had for him when that security cam video came out. So I am admittedly biased against him

Oh no we won't have a proven backup center, now we might suck.

Well that’s fair. Not gonna argue whether or not he’s a POS. Just think he’ll be a solid player.

This is just your bias peaking through. Jaxson Hayes is the same extended rotation big he was in New Orleans.
His per 36 scoring has gone down from 16.8 as a Pelican to 11.2 now (worse)
His rebounding this year equals his actual career average (not better)
He's playing more minutes this year (17.1 per game vs 15.9 career average), but his advanced stats like WS, BPM, and VORP are all worse now than when he was a Pelican

AD doesn't want to, but can actually fit just fine next to a traditional 5 because of his ability to stretch the floor. Zion isn't big enough to play the 5, nor does he stretch the floor.

I’m not defending Griffin, just want the timeline to be clear. We traded for Murray when we did because we had to get him before the start of the new league year otherwise his contract wouldn’t fit with the raise he was about to get.
Griffin gambled moving early in the offseason when getting Murray and thinking he could figure it out later, which never materialized. Obviously going into the season with Theis/Missi rotation at the 5 was probably plan F, but I’m curious what plans A - E looked like and how realistic they were. Griffin has shown in the past to have unrealistic offseason plans (i.e. signing Kyle Lowry)
Still, even if he is merely a victim of bad luck, this has become a common theme of the Griffin era: accumulate talent regardless of fit and figure it out later. We have had one of the most baffling roster constructions for the last 4 years in a row. Even worse, he does this knowing we dont have close to the level of coaching ingenuity needed to make it work.
In the end, I don’t think Griffin is a terrible GM, he’s made some good moves too and the injury problems aren’t entirely his fault, but this franchise has so many issues that we can’t get by with a GM/President who is merely passable. Coming in and fumbling this rebuild by trying to needlessly speed it up (after watching the guy before him do the exact same thing) is inexcusable. With how this year has gone, seeing other franchises start off their rebuilds after us but pass us up, it is clearly time to move on from Griffin

We've rightfully said for a while now that Willie Green needs the door, but I think Griffin deserves to be sent packing more than he does IMO.
