I long for the days when flying was an elitist event

I've been looking at buying an airplane just to cut down on trips to the airport

You'd need someone to fly it.

I used to be against "athletic shoe" dress shoes. Then I moved into a new position at the company that has me going to trade shows and standing for 8-10 hours at a time. THAT will change your opinion quickly. I couldn't get rid of my traditional hard leather soled shoes fast enough.

You must be a good bit older than me. I've been flying commercially since 86 and it certainly wasn't elitist then.

I think that fad was started by all of the idiot talking heads on the NFL pre-game shows and I think it looks stupid, there are plenty of soft soled dress shoes out there, and ones that don't look like geriatric dress shoes

I'm almost at the price point for chartering a family of four.

I haven't done much research on that but apparently there are some "ride share," for lack of a better term, charter services out there to where you can by space on a corporate type jet if you are a little flexible with your scheduling, and there are other "charter" companies that skirt the FARs with scheduled air carriers by calling themselves "scheduled charters" I'd bet if you do a little digging you could find more info on this, I think FlexJet and JNX are two companies that are into that

I've had a couple of pairs for the past 5-7 years and like them.
