With only 15 or so players, I would think this could be done from within the state rather easily. At least to get us to a .500 team...

There aren't 15 players in Louisiana that could play competitively in the SEC?

Our facilities are not enticing. How’s that new arena? Wade complained about these, as does Mulkey. This program is not set-up for success.

There’s two different ways to look at it. On one hand the SEC has become maybe the best basketball conference, which makes you think of all of these other “non basketball” schools can be competitive, why can’t we? On the other hand, with the SEC becoming the best conference, it makes for a tougher challenge.

Either way, I’ve been on the “give him time” side up until this year, but it’s obvious that McMahon isn’t getting it done. Changes should be made in the near future imo.

Vandy basically did it this year with a brand new coach. It can be done.

Not even close to 15, but you would never need that many. If you have 8 legit dudes you’ve got a deep team.

Fat Boy Woodward spent it on Old Man Kelly.

Basketball is not big in Louisiana compared to other states. So the level of players would not be easy to get. Not like football and baseball.

If you are good and being offered a scholarship in basketball, where would you go? Duke? Kansas? LSU? North Carolina?

Well we do have a top 5 player nationally coming out this year but we of course didn’t get him.

Yes.

Don’t let the mediocrity lovers on this board tell you otherwise when they see this thread.

It can be done in one year, yes agree Vanderbilt did with a NEW COACH and has turn it around in less than a year! Likewise Missouri went 0-18 in conference and turned it around in less than a year, it can be done no matter how tough the league is, besides not being able to make adjustments I don't think Mcloser can evaluate talent,it's been 3 years and it doesn't seem like they have the talent or he just can't coach. Take or pick

Basketball is as big in LA as it is in Alabama. Yet Alabama has two top 5 MBB programs.

It is the head coaches. We HAD a HC who kept us in the top 4 of SEC MBB programs. We fired him when we should have defended him. I know, water under the bridge.

Why would any top HC want to come to LSU? You won't get the support you need to build a top program.

You don’t need to hire a top HC. We need to quit thinking of basketball through a football lens.
