Meguiars and not just because it is a good product, the company has supported the car industry and hobby for many decades.

I have gallons of Zipwax car wash.

I'll use that up before using anything else. It's worked fine anyway.

First you have to decide what you are looking for in a soap and then we can talk chemistry/pH. However, for routine washing that has the least effect on your wax or other coating, you want a pH-neutral soap since you really aren't using the soap as a cleaner but actually as a lubricant something most people don't understand. I use Turtle Wax 54320 Hybrid Solutions Slick-N-Slide Pure Wash, it is functionally as good as anything unless you need a cleaner and is cheap compared to most of the foaming soaps.

My routine for normal maintenance washes which I think is about as good as you can get without going off the deep end requires a foam cannon and a pressure washer. The small electric pressure washers are perfect, you don't need massive volume and they are cheap and lightweight so they are easy to setup. Just make sure your foam cannon has the correct orifice installed for the volume of the pressure washer you are using.

First, foam the car and let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then rinse it off. Never use any contact with this initial foam and rinse.

Nex,t do the contact wash. Refoam the car and wipe it down with microfiber clothes or gloves. You can use a 1 bucket or two-bucket approach, I use one bucket boith work well and there is tons of info about each available via search. Then a final rinse and dry.

I abbreviated the wash routine and didn't give specific recs for products and tools since you just ask about soap and keep in mind my rec was only for maintenance washing. Stripping and heavy washing requires different chemistry. Just good a good foaming soap that is pH neutral for maintenance the harsher ones will remove part or all of the coating you have applied to the paint but there are certain situations where there are needed for deep cleaning or desired because you are trying to strip the coating.
