"Well, well, well - DOGE moves into the Treasury, triggering their longest-serving, highest-ranked career official to quit in a huff, and they find that department has essentially been auto-paying everyone, according to Elon Musk."
"The @DOGE team discovered, among other things, that payment approval officers at Treasury were instructed always to approve payments, even to known fraudulent or terrorist groups," said Musk in a Friday night tweet.
"They literally never denied a payment in their entire career."

there’s already a thread about this so i’m not going to do the whole thing again, go read it.
But for posterity:
#1 It it’s not treasury’s role to “deny” payments instructed by Congress. That would be wildly unconstitutional
#2 If there are payments being made not authorized by Congress then yes that’s a big deal and fair game, but you need to also have a lot more than Elon’s word.
#3 There is a massive conflict of interest to have an industrialists with many business interests having access to sensitive payment systems and it’s not at all clear he has (or could get due to his admitted drug abuse) clearance to view things such as payments to witness protection program participants.
But for posterity:

This sort of thing is exactly why those in power did everything possible to prevent Trump from taking office. They didn't want the gravy train turned off. Now comes accountability.
