Rick Pitino next LSU Coach

I get that he’s old, and St Johns seems like the perfect retirement job.
But it’s remarkable that he’s been able to turn that program around. He has an all time track record, and if his heart is still in it, we could do a whole lot worse than 3 years of Rick Pitino.

St. John’s to lsu is a step down, imo

Why the hell would he leave a much better program in a much better city to retire in BATON ROUGE?

Factoids: Pitino was a great HS player at St. Dominic’s Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY. Occasionally dropped over 50…
His relationship with Billy Donovan is phenomenal. Billy Donovan and Bernard Woodside were HS teammates at St Agnes RVC, Long Island, NY. Woodside made the Final 4 with LSU in ‘85-‘86. Donovan made the final 4 with Pitino and Providence in ‘86-‘87. Pitino to this day credits Donovan with putting him on the map. Pitino works the playgrounds and foreign hoop market as well as anyone. He’s relentless and expects the same in return. St John’s was up 23-3 on Georgetown today. Classic Pitino…they didn’t know what hit them.

New York City is a rat infested crime ridden shite hole, but I understand Pitino being from there. I bet you could find a lot of people who would rather Baton Rouge over New York.

CRP wouldn’t come to LSU. Wishful thinking but Mullins and a handful of other coaches didn’t let that program crumble.
Whether you like it or not, GTemple may be an option for the staff. Yes, just cause he’s alumni doesn’t mean he’s an answer, but he needs coaching time on the resume. If CMM gets year 4, I see tmitch or a Louisiana name to join the staff as assistant hc.

Why the frick would he leave St John’s for LSU in basketball?

No
Look what wade has done at Mcneese. He has turned that small school into a national power, and word on the street that wade has already turned down multiple blue blood programs, waiting on the call from LSU.
Let's bring him home. Future HOF Coach.

At least Dick and Pat wouldn't come after him. Organizing yacht orgies for recruits and going to pound town on young ladies not his wife in the back room of restaurants is much more palatable to them than strong arse offers.

Will Wade once Walked on Water and Turned Water into Wine

Might as well add Massimino and Crum to the list.
