Spinoff of the speed queen thread

I'm looking at both Maytag and the SQ TC5. Seems both equal in build quality and 5 year warranty. I'm leaning Maytag, being 350 xheaper

I bought a cheap washer this time around and it works better than the expensive ones.

Cleans great and never goes uneven like all the bullshite newly designed ones.

Who makes Kennmore now? I believe they used to be Maytag or Whirlpool, depending on Model you ordered.

Maytag is junk. In three years I had at least a dozen service calls on the washer and dryer.

This is front load and the commercial grade units.

Absolute garbage

Honestly these are great machines. They are simply based on classic maytags. The controls are the weak spot but they aren't that weak.

These are my easy #2 brand. Maytag commercial. Not standard Maytag.

Maytag = Whirlpool not Junk per se just cheaper than it used to be. And the suspension rods need to be upgraded.

Maytag Commercial = not junk is just an old early 2000s maytag with a modern control system.

White face/silver face = bad

Blackface = good

I have the Bravos XL commercial. Washer and dryer, no complaints.

I just replaced the water inlet valve on Washer, super simple. Washer is about 6 yrs old and gets used ALOT

Same here and it’s old. I went through 2 machines and just picked this one up super cheap. It works well and doesn’t rock around like the others. Only negative is no quick wash so it takes forever.

Unfortunately my Maytag Commercial washer only made it 4.5 years.

I was sad about it.

Do NOT buy Maytag. I purchased one in October and It broke for the first time 2 days later. I’m on my 6th service call with the washer just being repaired after being broken waiting on a part for over a month. We have changed the same sensor 4 times, complete wiring harness, and the board. The washer is currently “fixed” but it’s on the porch where it will stay and be sold on market place. You will wait on hold for 45 minutes every time you call in for a repair. It is completely unacceptable to have a washer break that many times and be broken for that long and not issue a refund or a new unit. But Maytag/kenmore/kitchenaid could not careless. They offered me a one time 15%off a new appliance when I asked for a refund when they couldn’t find a part to fix my washer that was broken for over a month. I said so I just bought a washer for 800 that’s junk now you want me to buy another one for 680 ???

What happened to cause it to be totaled after 4 years? A bad transmission?

In my experence the majority of units i get fire recycling just have bad lid switches or simple failures. . Some think it's cheaper to replace than fix so they put a $600 machine on the curb because a $20 part failed.

i left ours when we moved and simply picked up some on buy/sell/trade from the mid 2000s.

wife finally came around on these; they are plain to ugly but they will wash some freaking clothes and she runs 2-3 cycles a day because she's insane.

"King" capacity FTW!

Do you sell these? Repair them? You seem to have some insight.

FWIW in the commercial laundromat world Maytag's are widely regarded as POS's

They were a good brand 20-25 years ago but the company got bought or something and it all went to shite
