I would be gunning for an NFL job. The work/life balance is light years ahead of the college game at the moment

I don't think Chip is being forced to recruit very much. It's why he took a demotion.

His offense fizzled in the NFL the first time once DCs figured him out. He’s a college coach and would be smart to stay where he is. You know he isn’t being forced to recruit a ton and has a huge support staff at OSU.

This year Ohio States offense was dramatically different than what he ran at Oregon/Eagles

That’s not how many coaches think. That will probably be why he goes back to the NFL. He’d love another shot to prove himself.

What about other coaches in the SEC? Are they all happy to beat each other up rather than be one with only 1 loss or no loss?

No, he interviewed for NFL OC jobs before going to Ohio State. Dude wants a real offseason, to not recruit, and not get scrutinized for losing 1 or 2 games a year (especially to Michigan).

He could go 12-5 and make the playoffs as an NFL OC and he'd have all the job security in the world.

Oh is it that simple?

I get the idea but let’s not forget Chip has washed out twice in the NFL already and got mollywhopped as soon as teams got a little bit of film on his offense.

I know he’s evolved a lot since then, but evolution is a constant thing at the NFL level. Guys that make it long term are always adjusting.

He doesn't recruit much. Part of his agreement to go to Ohio State.

I'd take him in Dallas. Don't trust Shottenheimer calling plays. Doubt Chip would want to take a back seat to Shottenheimer though.

His offenses have constantly evolved. He's been world's away from what he ran at Oregon for a very long time.

He's running nothing like that offense anymore
