IMO Trump is targeting FEMA, especially in the face of CA politicians for one reason.

He knows those corrupt motherfrickers use “wildfires” to help solve Sacramento budget problems every year.
Start a wildfire. Declare a state emergency. Then FEMA swooped in with the cash infusion.
Gavin and the rest of the CA politicians have no incentive to mitigate wildfires.

Nah he is targeting it because it is a bloated agency that does nothing but slow down disaster aid to the States and individuals immensely.

FEMA’s red flagging of NC hurricane victims who were pro-Trump opened them to bureaucratic dissolution. I can’t lie as I was truly helped by their flood money in ‘16, but like a lot of the Bureaucracy they became politicized and weaponized. Worse than just criminal as it sews the seeds of Systemic dysfunction and rebellion.

Probably not a bad guess. It does seem the wildfires happen with greater frequency lately.

The absolute most expensive way to get almost anything done, from picking up roadside litter to rockets in space is to have the federal government do it.
Emergency response should be privatized.
Please Pres. Trump hit TSA next.

In terms of burn acreage, no. I think the wildfires are probably closer to residential properties more than usual though.

If that were the case, why is he so eager to send them the crapload of money for this latest fire, as he promised yesterday? Why not start weaning California now? He wants to get rid of FEMA because it is monumentally wasteful, it fails far more often than it succeeds, and it’s time to try a new approach.

FEMA sucks
FEMA should be the one unified government agency that all Americans support because it’s entirely apolitical and used solely for disasters.
Unfortunately bloat and entrenched bureaucracy just makes it another politicized agency.

FEMA isn’t anything but a money laundering operation.

I had a patient that worked for FEMA in my practice and had $17000 worth of dental benefits per year provided by FEMA.
The average patient with dental insurance has about $1200/year.
In 25 years of dentistry, the largest yearly benefit I had seen was $3000/yr for a Catholic Priest. This woman had more than 10 times the average benefits of regular working people.
frick FEMA and the horse they road in on.

Pretty close. I saw pics of smoldering neighborhoods surrounded by green trees.
When did they start measuring wildfire damage in dollars instead of acreage? Gotta pump those numbers up.

Land grab. Look at Nevada. Their utopia is to retake millions of acres of land and declare it off limits...err...I mean "public use" land.
It's Communism in it's purest form.

Logical but he's still talking about handing over money to said states..

I did a presentation to the regional FEMA execs late last year. It took me 45 min once I was at the main gate until I was standing in the conference room. All doors, trunk, were opened. Dogs stiffing and security with mirrors, and all cases were gone through. I get to the office and have to go through metal detectors. Armed security was everywhere. I was shocked of the restrictions and security for FEMA......so wasteful.

Federal funds always come with strings, so don’t let the filth trick you into thinking otherwise.
Secondly, California wildfires is a prime example of a natural phenomenon that morphed into a disaster due to negligent government. There should be no relief without the condition of wholesale policy changes.

If we build more solar farms the fires won't happen

I mean wildfires happen. It’s how the government agencies respond that was the failure.
And in this case, it could have been born (or at least amplified) by arson. Another failure by Newsome.
