2025 Football Roster

Below is the list of all scholarship football players for the 2025 season. 85 scholarship players. We do not have a scholarship Longsnapper currently. It’s also my understanding we are trying to add another OL and S. If we add anymore, more have to leave, unless some of these are no longer on scholarship technically.

Incorrect, the SEC will stay at 85 scholarship players in 2025. See LINK

In the spring we will be well under 85 as the freshman class counts once the practice. We can definitely add a few more now if needed, as no doubt people are still processing out until the fall.

Under the SEC's planned rules for 2025, schools in the conference could fill those 20 extra roster spots with walk-ons for 2025.
With NIL $$$ being distributed by the University, then couldn't you classify some as a walk-on, while paying them NIL money to cover the cost of school?

Exactly… like I said more will have to leave if we add more…

Safety still needs some help

And that is what I mean by “unless some of these are no longer on scholarship technically”. Maybe you pay the kid an NIL deal worth the cost for them to pay their own way as a walk on.. not sure how the SEC could enforce anything like that against that.
For instance I could see in state guys like Austin Ausberry taken off scholarship but provided an NIL deal that covers any costs he has to accrue due to paying his own way. In reality, you could probably do this for 20 in-state guys on your roster that will have cheaper in state tuition and add 20 more players from the portal (if NIL money wasn’t an issue)

Could be wrong but not sure Austin Ausberry is on scholarship

12 of 15 OL on the team are Freshmen or Sophomores. Lot of young talent for sure.

The SEC rulers may not always be terribly shrewd, but they're not going to allow someone to convert scholarship players to just "NIL walkons" to skirt the 85 scholarship limit they have in place for the 2025 season.
If they allowed that, every school would be doing the same thing, and the 85 scholarship limit would be useless. It won't happen, whether at LSU or any other school.

might be the best linebacking core in lsu's history

Awesome, thanks. Would love to see Emery return, but I know he has moved on per comments. Playoffs or layoffs in 2025'

I like our roster that is all I will say.
