Looks like Ms wildlife, fisheries, and parks extended the either sex season for private lands. Here is the link to MDWFP.

A rare instance of the government using common sense, seemed strange that it ended on a Friday

Please everyone, do not tell the deer. This is our chance for ambush

IMO they should have made it bucks only. I would think the majority of does have been bred

Their intent is likely to ensure people kill enough does. I know we’ll be trying to lay them down at our place. The state has been saying for years they’re concerned density is getting too high and it’s gonna lead to some kind of disease outbreak. Doesn’t matter if you shoot her in September or February, she isn’t having a fawn in the freezer.

Yes, bucks only ends on Feb 15th, but cannot shoot does after Jan 31st (a Friday). Southeast zone was not included in this extension.

What does a doe being bred have to do with anything?
I killed a doe two days ago. She’d probably been bred.

Most game departments think the way to fight CWD is to kill the deer. A dead deer won’t get it. They really have no other answer.

Doesn't make any difference. Not sure why some folks get upset over it. If you kill a doe in January it's not having a fawn same as if you killed it in October.

I'm in the Mississippi Whitetails FB group and there are a few people who are pretty pissed about the extension. They seem to think that CAs are going to shoot all the deer with the extra two days.

I’m not upset about anything. Was just pointing it out. I need one more meat deer. Might shoot a big doe. Carry on

We hunted a club right next to you that wouldn't allow does to be killed after January 1st. For the life of me I couldn't get them to understand it doesn't matter if I killer her 10/1 or 1/31 she's still not going to have fawns. Dead is dead.
