I feel like "Soulslike"is one of those terms that has become so overused it's lost all meaning. It's way too broad and applies to far too many mechanics.
It's a little bit how for years in the 90s any FPS was called a "Doom Clone" even when they clearly weren't.
Any third person ARPG is gonna have "Souslike" elements at this point since FromSoftware games came to sorta define the genre.
Regardless, this game looks good.

This term drives me crazy. It’s applied to every fricking action game that comes out now. I’m glad they went a different direction and made it clear it is NOT, however

I think it's because there will be a difficulty setting in the game. That's what I read.

I thought the bad guys were super spongy and it looked really button mashy with no thought behind it other than the occasional sword toss. I am not sure why people are losing their mind over this one.

Hole in the market for character action games so I think people are just craving a stylish, cinematic, and fun experience.

The excitement around Ninja Gaiden 2 Black has much more than I expected, so I think you're 100% correct. Very few character action games like Devil May Cry/Bayonetta and every 3rd person action game has been closer to Souls games.
