Article

Bizarre. What has happened to local "news?"

The article begins with these three sentences, and in that time manages to mangle grammar and also use a period where a question mark belonged.

quote:

The Shreveport Police Department recently conducted a sting, arresting nine people in connection with prostitution-related offenses.

But what are the differences between prostitution and soliciting for prostitutes. Both charges hold different repercussions, and the Shreveport Police Department provided the definition for each charge found in Louisiana Law.

From there, the rest of the article cuts and pastes the definitions of these crimes from Louisiana law, with no further editing or explanation.

There is no listing of the people arrested, or the circumstances of the sting operation, or whether there's anything interesting or unusual about it.

Local news is DEAD. I'm surprised they even did this much of an "article" which looks like it could have been created in about 5 minutes. I hope colleges are closing down their journalism departments, because there is no future in that field.

Ever since Robert Kraft's visit to the massage parlor it has become necessary for sports publications to remind professional athletes of the various punishments concerning prostitution.

Even the local TV news stations that had pretty decent websites years ago are mostly garbage these days.

The so called editors are probably in Nashville. There are no copy editors.

Funny article, I think it was posted because a local disbarred attorney and political commentator was arrested for prostitution versus soliciting. Doesn’t negate the poor grammar.

Do people in Shreveport really not know the difference between buying a hooker and being one?

I believe that Johns can be charged/convicted of prostitution.

Solicitation is easier to prove because the act of intercourse doesn't have to occur or be imminent.

Interesting. If so you'd think they would refer to the case that led them to publish this, since it must have had some public interest. But if local media is dead, this I guess is what you get from them.
