SEC and Big Ten ADs are set to meet again to further discuss the Playoffs and other issues

The Feb. 19 meeting is expected to focus on CFP format and governance as well as the transition into a post-settlement world with athlete revenue sharing. The NCAA and power leagues’ landmark settlement of the House case is up for approval in April and implementation in July.
But perhaps the most interesting topic is the expanded playoff’s future format.
As part of an agreement struck last spring, the Big Ten and SEC believe they have authority over any change to the playoff format starting with the 2026 postseason, the first of a new six-year extension of the CFP. Changes for the 2025 playoff — unlikely at this point — require unanimity among the 10 FBS conference commissioners and Notre Dame’s athletic director.

There is discussion of a 14-team model that designates four automatic qualifiers each to the SEC and Big Ten; two each to the ACC and Big 12; one to the best Group of Five champion; and one at-large, intended for Notre Dame if it finishes ranked inside the top 14 (or, if not, the next-highest ranked team after the automatic qualifiers are selected). Officials describe it as a 4-4-2-2-1+1 model, with the top two seeds receiving a first-round bye. It is a way, too, in limiting the subjectivity and power of the selection committee

And college football continues to suck more and more.

ND has veto power over the entire fricking college football world.

And potentially in the future an essentially guaranteed spot.

I expect Sankey to not do what he needs to do. The SEC needs to say enough is enough of letting these teams like SMU and Indiana back their way into the playoff when they play absolutely nobody.

After watching that 12 team playoff, I'm sure we're all thinking "you know what we need, more teams."

This is going to be another cluster of a meeting with worse outcomes. They’re going to finally kill the golden goose

If I was Notre Dame, I wouldn’t agree to that.
1 at-large means Notre Dame HAS to be the highest ranked at-large team to get in. Imagine ND being ranked around 10, but Boise and another G5 school both go undefeated. Because of multiple AQ’s per conference, a #10 ranked 10-2 ND could end up left out while a 9-3 ACC or Big 12 team gets in because they were the 2nd highest team in their conference

Texas played three times this season vs teams with a pulse. They lost all three

SEC is forever in a hissy-fit if they're not in the title game...so they always want to change the format and bend the rules.
I remember when Auburn didn't get to play the great 2004 USC instead it was Oklahoma to the slaughter.... And the SEC Commish blew a fuse and said this will never happen again!!!! So they changed the selection process. They just can't handle anything that doesn't go their way, like spoiled children.

If a team like Indiana can get into the playoffs, we need to get rid of the playoffs

The way I interpret it is Notre Dame automatically gets the bid if it’s ranked in the top 14. Look at this years rankings and put notre dame at 14 and move everyone else up 1 spot. That would have Miami at 12, ole miss at 13 and Notre Dame at 14. ND would go over both those teams because Clemson get in as does a 2nd big 12 team. It would be
Big 10: Oregon, Ohio st, penn st, & Indiana
Sec: UGA, UTX, UTK, Bama
Acc: smu, Clemson
Big 12: asu, Kansas st/BYU. don’t know if they championship teams or highest ranked team
Group of 5: Boise State
And because they would be ranked at 14, Notre Dame.
They should definitely agree to this with their lack of tough schedule they play every year

Absolutely not. 12 is already too many.

Keep it at 12 and remove all automatic bids. Go back to 11 regular season games. Start the week after conference championship games and play every Friday/Saturday.
First round is played at bowl game sites. Second round, the top 4 get a home playoff game. Semifinals and finals stay as is.

As I understand it, they have pretty much decided on the 14-team playoff, the specific model is all that remains to be agreed upon.

If there's a way to make CFB worse, those guys will figure out how to do it.

You read like a butthurt Alabama fan.
Hey, butthurt Alabama fan, don’t get your arse beat by Vandy and don’t get your arse beat as double digit favorites by double digits by a shite Oklahoma team and you’re in.
Of course, like Notre Dame, you think the rules ought not apply to you.
