First, I don't expect anyone here to like Notre Dame or even respect them. That's fair.
I came on this board three years ago to give you my assessment of Brian Kelly as a coach. My opinion hasn't changed. He's a good coach. He finds diamonds in the rough and develops players into NFL players. But it's funny I got excoriated for saying the same thing about him that many of you have said about him, that his game preparation and game day coaching could be better.
I also don't expect you to like Marcus Freeman or respect him or what he's done so far. I know how college football fans are. But some of the things I read here are just bogus, that he's done no better at ND than BK did. What we're happy about is he's elevated ND to be able to beat top 10 teams and at least be in the conversation and look like they belong on the field. You can caveat NIL, etc., all you want, but the fact is BK had some horrendous losses also at ND to terrible teams and routinely
got blown out in big games.
Having said that, BK himself said he needed better players in order to compete. He and most of you won't say it or admit it but he needs those types of players to overcome his game preparation and game day coaching. So yes, he can and probably will win one or more national championships at LSU.
Finally, most ND fans are grateful BK elevated the program to a much higher level. I know I am and was
disappointed he left. But I'm happy Freeman is the coach and we'll see how he does going forward.

Wrong board.
Hardly. I read several dozen posts about Freeman vs. Kelly before I posted anything here recently.

That's not what I did but okay, whatever.

Posts like this are why everyone hates Notre Dame.

The fact that you’re on an LSU message board the night your team is playing for a NC in over 13 years is pretty pathetic.

Nowhere in my post did I "whine." But whatever. I'll wait a year and see how y'all feel about BK then.

Freeman was getting his arse handed to him until a lucky play caused a fumble. His biggest mistake was kicking the field goal down 16 points with 9 mins and all the momentum on ND side. Even if they don't get the TD, OSU is pinned deep. Get a stop and get ball back with great field position.
ND beat a team without its starting QB and another team where the HC (Franklin) makes terrible choices and never wins a big game.
Lots of things have helped ND recruit better after Kelly. Next year will be huge for Freeman to see if he can duplicate the success. Losing to Northern Illinois at home was an ugly loss.

I’ll be honest, I have nothing against Freeman or even ND. The problem is, the continuous bashing of Kelly, and people saying Freeman is a better coach. The constant taking away from what Kelly did at ND, and acting like Freeman has done more. At the end of the day, Freeman took over a stable program, Kelly did not. Kelly has elevated LSU, from Orgeron’s last season as the coach. Freeman has not elevated Notre Dame. Kelly has a huge season ahead of him though. If he doesn’t make the playoffs, he likely never will. This is the year to judge him, not last year. No matter what he said to the media.

We do like Marcus Freeman.
He hasn't done anything more than BK. If he ever wins a Championship then you can talk.

This is completely fair and should be how most ND fans should think. You should can be appreciative of BK and also happy to have Freeman.

I just don't think he has done anything more than BK sorry. BK left ND while they were in the playoffs didn't he? BK took ND to a Championship didn't he?
Freeman was handed a far superior situation that BK built.

On our message board we welcome opposing fans. But I'm beginning to see why the worst LSU fans are among the worst in all of college football.

These ND fans are sad. So glad they lost.
